Mojang Studios is a Swedish game company founded in May, 2009 by Markus "Notch" Persson and later purchased by Microsoft on September 15th, 2014.[1] It is renowned for having created the famous sandbox game Minecraft, along with several other titles, and works in collaboration with Telltale Games for Minecraft: Story Mode. Mojang's headquarters are located in Stockholm, Sweden.

Founding[]
In May 2009, Markus "Notch" Persson, along with Jakob Porsér and Carl Mennah founded Mojang and developed the game Minecraft which became one of the best selling games ever.
Microsoft Subsidiary[]
In September 2014, Microsoft bought Mojang for $2.5 billion, with which the three founders, Markus Persson, Jakob Porsér, and Carl Mennah left the company.
Jens Bergensten (a.k.a. Jeb) took over the company.

Trivia[]
- Jeb is the current main developer of Minecraft, but it is not known if he is involved in the making of Minecraft: Story Mode.
- In 2014, Mojang AB was bought by Microsoft. Notch subsequently handed over the lead development of Minecraft to his colleague, Jeb.
