"Order Up!" is the fifth episode of Minecraft: Story Mode, Season 1 and the final episode of the Season Pass.
Plot[]
Chapter 1[]
The New Order of the Stone—consisting of Jesse, Axel, Petra, Olivia and Lukas (though Lukas is absent in this chapter), ventures into a remote jungle temple in search of a legendary artifact Ivor had mentioned. Battling through a swarm of hostile mobs, each Order member demonstrates their honed combat skills.
Inside the temple, Jesse solves a complex lava puzzle, revealing a hidden staircase leading to the temple's treasure room. The group finds a cake, a pumpkin, and most notably, an enchanted flint and steel. When Jesse activates it, the entire room is illuminated, revealing numerous mobs surrounding them. Jesse can use one of these special moves:
- Builder Bump: Jesse builds a cobblestone path for the group to escape the mobs.
- Redstone Rap: Olivia finishes her next contraption, which is dispensers filled with arrows. Jesse flips a lever to shoot the arrows at the mobs.
- Griefer Grab: Axel gives Jesse a block of TNT and throws him into the air. Jesse throws the TNT at some zombies mid-air, causing them to blow up.
- Warrior Whip: Jesse swings Petra and throws her to a horde of zombies. Petra kills all of the zombies with ease.
The group continues up the staircase, where they are split thanks to some stairs being burnt. Jesse and the group climb up some vines, encountering cave spiders along the way, and Jesse throws his sword to stop the closing hole, allowing the group to exit.
Having successfully found treasure, the Order begins their journey back to Beacontown to consult Ivor about the enchanted flint and steel. Along the way, however, they encounter Aiden, Maya, and Gill—former Ocelots, who, after abandoning Lukas, have rebranded themselves as the Blaze Rods. Aiden accuses Jesse of selfishly hoarding treasures and demands the enchanted flint and steel. The Order stands their ground, forcing the Blaze Rods to retreat for the time being.
Chapter 2[]
- "That glow... that enchantment is the work of a very old group of builders, a group so old that they existed even before the Order of the Stone!... You see, if these builders truly existed, and if you found their temple... that means we're one step closer to finding... 'The Eversource!' What a beautiful sight!"
- —Ivor explaining about the Old Builders. src
Back in Beacontown, the Order is greeted by the townspeople, including the Fangirl, who faints from excitement after high-fiving Jesse. They find Ivor in the middle of building a lava house, much to the concern of the townspeople due to its obvious dangers. Jesse can choose to allow the lava house to remain or have it dismantled, earning either Ivor's gratitude or frustration based on the decision. The group then tells Ivor about the enchanted flint and steel, sparking his excitement, and he agrees to meet with them in the Order Hall.
In the Order Hall, the group reunites with Lukas, who, if relations were strained in Episode 4, offers an apology. Before all else, they pause to pay their respects to Reuben, whose pork chop has been preserved as a memento. Lukas updates the group on Aiden's rise to power within the Blaze Rods and his growing resentment toward Jesse. Ivor then reveals that the special enchantment on the flint and steel was forged by the Old Builders, a legendary group predating even The Original Order of the Stone. The enchanted flint and steel is said to lead them to the Eversource, an artifact rumored to provide an infinite supply of building materials.
Determined to uncover the Eversource, Jesse, Petra, Lukas, and an unusually enthusiastic Ivor return to the jungle temple, which is revealed to be the temple of the Old Builders, while Axel and Olivia stay behind in Beacontown. They discover a strange portal hidden at the temple's summit, which can only be activated with the enchanted flint and steel. Just as they activate it, the Blaze Rods suddenly appear and snatch the flint and steel from Jesse. The Blaze Rods then escape through the portal, with Jesse, Lukas, Petra, and Ivor in pursuit.
Chapter 3[]
- "Please remain calm. Earlier today, outsiders built a bridge into our fair city from a distant island! Now, whether these outsiders know it or not, this is a violation of Sky City's most sacred law: no unauthorized building."
- —Isa to the Sky City Townspeople about the crime committed by Jesse's gang. src
The portal takes the group to a floating island near Sky City, an impressive golden metropolis suspended high above the clouds. Sky City has strict laws prohibiting unauthorized building and crafting, though the group is initially unaware of this. They build a dirt bridge to reach the city. At the city's entrance, a nervous citizen informs them that building without permission is forbidden and mentions that the Blaze Rods arrived earlier and entered a nearby inn.
In Sky City, Jesse and the group observe its rigid crafting regulations, all governed by "the Founder," who is believed to possess the Eversource and is credited with the city's creation. At the inn, they meet Milo, the innkeeper, who reveals that the Blaze Rods are also seeking the Eversource and that he directed them to the Founder's palace.
Before they can act, an sudden city-wide meeting is called. The Founder emerges from her palace, warning of the group's illegal bridge-building and threatening their arrest. Ivor sees this as a chance to infiltrate the palace, where the Eversource is rumored to be kept, and turns himself in. Milo tells Jesse about an alternative route into the palace. Jesse must then decide whether to to turn him/herself in with Ivor or escape with Petra and Milo.
Chapter 4[]
- "I wouldn't be so sure of that, Jesse. This is MY world."
- —Aiden whispering to Jesse about his plan of taking over Sky City. (determinant) src
Helping Ivor
Jesse and Lukas turn themselves in alongside Ivor. They soon realize that Aiden has already won the Founder's trust by accusing the Order of hoarding treasures and planning to steal the Eversource.
Jesse tries to prove the Order's innocence to the Founder. The Founder invites him/her outside the palace and reveals the vast emptiness around the city, hence the need to prevent wastage of resources by prohibiting unauthorized building. Moreover, she explains that the Eversource does not actually generate endless materials, and that she risks her life daily for resources. At this point, Jesse can respond in two ways:
- Offer to help the Founder ("Let me help you."): Jesse offers to help the Founder, resulting in her admitting that her role is exhausting. However, she declines the offer, stating that the city's welfare is her responsibility. This gains Jesse some trust, and while the Founder no longer believes they intend to steal the Eversource, she orders their temporary detainment to investigate the matter further. The guards escort Jesse, Lukas, and Ivor to a cell without hostility.
- Accuse the Founder of being power-hungry ("You just want power!"): Jesse takes a confrontational approach. The Founder sides with Aiden, branding Jesse and the others as thieves. She orders their indefinite imprisonment, and the guards forcibly take them away.
In either case, the group is imprisoned by Reginald, the Captain of the Guards, who confiscates their inventories. Jesse manages to convince Reginald of their innocence and mission to stop the Blaze Rods, after which he releases them with their inventories. However, Ivor privately insists on stealing the Eversource; Lukas argues against it due to the city's scarcity of resources. Jesse must decide whether to support Ivor's plan, oppose it, or focus solely on stopping the Blaze Rods.
- "I help you get into the palace, you help me steal the Eversource for my people. Unlimited resources for everyone!"
- —Milo to Jesse about his plan of liberating Sky City. (determinant) src
Leaving with Milo
After escaping the guards, Milo takes Jesse and Petra to a hidden room in his inn, which is revealed to be the secret base of a resistance group of builders. Milo has Jesse promise not to tell anyone about the club and reveals himself as its leader.
Milo recounts being jailed by the Founder for "egregious wasting of resources" after accidentally dropping dirt blocks over the edge of the city. During his imprisonment, he realized that despite the risks, people should not be stopped from learning how to build altogether.
The Build Club members are suspicious of Jesse and Petra, and to gain their trust as capable builders, Jesse can choose to build an anvil, a pair of boots, or an Iron Golem. Once their trust is earned, Milo reveals his plans to steal the Eversource to free Sky City's residents. Milo then suggests sneaking into the palace through an unguarded high window. Jesse crafts ladders to help reach it, and the group sets off for the palace.
Chapter 5[]
- "So... the chicken lays the eggs, and the eggs... make monsters... and the loot from the monsters... made this place."
- —Jesse about the Eversource. src
Jesse, Petra, Lukas, Ivor, and Milo regroup in the palace's throne room in search of the supposed secret entrance to the Eversource. Jesse crafts a lever, revealing a hidden door which leads to a resource room packed with chests containing spawn eggs.
They soon discover the Eversource to be a chicken laying spawn eggs, the source of Sky City's resources. The group debates; Ivor wants to steal the chicken, Milo suggests redistributing its benefits to Sky City's residents, and Lukas argues the Eversource should remain under the Founder's control. Jesse is about to weigh in when the Founder and the Blaze Rods suddenly arrive.
The Founder accuses Jesse's group of trying to steal the Eversource. However, Aiden reveals the Blaze Rods' actual plan to steal the Eversource for themselves. He takes a spawn egg to spawn a creeper, which blasts a hole in the resource room. Lukas engages Aiden, while the Founder dangles off the island's edge, struggling to pull herself up. Jesse must choose who to help. If Jesse helps the Founder, Aiden pushes him/her, the Founder, and Lukas over the edge. If Jesse helps Lukas, Aiden pushes Jesse and the Founder while Lukas remains on the island.
Jesse, the Founder, and (if present) Lukas fall safely into a lake on the land below. The Founder, whose name is revealed to be Isa, apologizes for misjudging Jesse and realizes her error in trusting Aiden. Suddenly, mobs begin raining from the sky—Isa and Jesse deduce that the Blaze Rods are using spawn eggs to unleash destruction on Sky City. The two and Lukas, if present, decide to return to Sky City and stop Aiden. While collecting dirt blocks to build a tower, they discover the portal frame that originally brought them to this world. If Lukas is with them, he opts to stay on the land.
- "This was supposed to be my world, and you ruined it!"
- "Listen to yourself! That's insane!"
- —Aiden and Jesse. src
In Sky City, mobs like zombies, skeletons, creepers, spiders, and even ghasts run rampant. Jesse and Isa arrive; Isa stays outside to fend off the mobs and protect her citizens while Jesse heads inside the palace to confront Aiden. Ivor gives him/her a potion to bypass Maya and Gill.
Upon Jesse's arrival, Aiden summons a creeper, which blasts Reginald aside. He then spawns two blazes, which Jesse effortlessly defeats. The two then engage in a swordfight, with Jesse eventually gaining the upper hand. Aiden surrenders and returns the enchanted flint and steel. Jesse can then decide whether to push Aiden over the edge, apprehend him, or simply walk away, all choices ending their rivalry once and for all.
As mobs continue to overrun Sky City, the citizens are forced to evacuate. Despite doubts about the existence of land below them, they decide to trust Jesse and follow him/her down a waterfall to safety.
Chapter 6[]
The citizens of Sky City safely land on the ground below and are shocked to discover the vast world beneath the ruins of their former home. With the city in shambles, Isa and Milo clash over differing visions for the residents' futures: Isa wants to reassemble the citizens and establish a new civilization, while Milo believes they should all be free to roam the world as they please. Jesse is asked to mediate, choosing to support Isa, Milo, or encourage them to share leadership. Isa formally arrests Aiden and the Blaze Rods, and presents the Order with the Eversource Crown as a token of gratitude before departing with her chicken companion, Benedict. Jesse spots a group of pigs nearby, which remind him/her of Reuben.
With the Blaze Rods apprehended, Jesse, Petra, Lukas, and Ivor step through the portal they discovered earlier. However, instead of taking them to their home world, the portal sends them to the Portal Network—a vast corridor lined with countless portals, each leading to a different dimension.
- "That's... not what I was expecting."
- —Jesse's end quote. src
