The following is a transcript of Episode 7: Access Denied of Telltale Games' Minecraft: Story Mode.

Jesse: Previously on Minecraft: Story Mode.

Flashback to Episode 5.

Ivor: That glow... that enchantment is the work of a very old group of builders, a group so old that they existed even before the Order of the Stone!

Jesse ignites the flint and steel, activating the portal. The shockwave sends them back and they drop the flint and steel.

Flashback to the Portal Network.

Portal Network zooms out slowly.

Portal Network[]

Jesse, Petra and Lukas jump out from the water portal, but Ivor is launched by wave of water and entered another water portal. They start to follow him.

Petra: Ahhh, not again...!

Ivor, Lukas and Petra, begin standing, until Jesse starts panicking at the squid stuck on his/her head.

Jesse: Get it off of me! Get it off!

Petra sighs, and then follows Jesse with Lukas and Ivor. Jesse and the gang run away from bats from the portal, screaming. Jesse, Ivor and Petra leave the purple portal with a gentleman behind them. Jesse shoves him back to the portal and pulls back Lukas.

Lukas: What just happened?

Petra: Rrrrgh!

Ivor laughs.

Jesse, Lukas and Petra leave the white portal with a flock of sheep following them while Ivor was trapped inside them. Jesse climbs up from the emerald portal, horizontally, then falls down.

Jesse: Woah!

Lukas, Petra and Ivor climb up from the same portal and fall down. Petra leaves the snowy portal, frustrated, while Lukas is shivering.

Lukas: Brrrr...Ice Lakes.

Ivor jumps out from the snowy portal and preparing to throw a snowball and it hits Petra for calling him grumpy.

Petra: Ow!

Lukas points at Ivor, who had thrown the snowball. Jesse jumps out and chuckles. He/she then grabs Petra's hand.

Jesse: C'mon.

Jesse and the gang jump back out from the fire world portal and get up from the landing.

Jesse: That was crazy! Why would there even BE a fire world?!?

Jesse looks towards Lukas and sees his backside is still on fire. They pat the fire out.

Lukas: Thanks, guys.

Lukas starts writing in his journal.

Lukas: I marked that one down as "Fire World."

Petra: Wow. How'd you come up with THAT gem of a name?

Lukas: Okay... did I miss something here?

Jesse: Yeah, what's up with you?

Petra: What's up with me? What's UP? I'm tired of all this useless portal-hopping trying to find our way home! (Imitating) "What's on the other side of that portal? A lake of fire and netherrack? Awesome! Let's go there!"

  • We're all frustrated, Petra.
  • But you love danger!
  • We can't just give up.
  • ...

Jesse: We're all frustrated, Petra. You're not the only one ready for a break.

Jesse: That doesn't sound like the Petra I know. She LOVES fighting against impossible odds.

Petra: When I have to, sure. But I don't want to fight just for the sake of fighting!

Jesse: Come on, Petra. I know it's touch, but we're the Order of the Stone! We don't just give up!

Petra: Ugh... I know you love your peptalks and all, Jesse, but they don't exactly get us any closer to home, do they?

Petra: Nothing to say for yourself?

Ivor: Not to change the subject, but does anyone else smell something?

Lukas' backside sets on fire again.

Jesse: Lukas, you're on fire again!

Petra: See? Ugh... this is what I'm talking about. We're stuck in a rut, go through a portal, avoid dying long enough to get back to this stupid hallway...

Ivor: Wash, rinse, repeat... yes. It would be nice if whoever made these left some sort of signs. Guideposts.

  • They must be different for a reason.
  • Some DO look dangerous.
  • Directions WOULD be nice!
  • ...

Jesse: All the Portal Frames do look kind of different...

Lukas: You're right! This one totally has a fire vibe, that skull back there is the White Pumpkin. There's a system!

Jesse: Now that you mention it... some of these do look more dangerous than others. Like the one we just came through?

Ivor: Kind of like a warning that there is, in fact, nothing but fire on the other side.

Jesse: It's not like we have directions about how all this works, so of course, there is going to be some trial and error.

Petra: And error and error and error and error...

Jesse says nothing.

Petra grunts and walks away.

Ivor: Petra, where are you going?

Petra: There may not be guideposts, but someone must be able to tell us how to navigate these stupid portals.

Petra stops by a portal.

Petra: Okay, this one's Redstone. Redstone means smart people. Hopefully smart enough to help us find the way home. At the very least, it's gotta be better than "fire world."

Ivor: Seems a bit flimsy.

  • You're not thinking clearly.
  • We'll find the way home.
  • What if there's no one?
  • ...

Jesse: Come on, Petra. You’re not thinking clearly right now.

Lukas: Yeah. You’re frustrated and tired... just calm down, okay?

Petra: “Calm down?“ Maybe I just want a little time away from you guys.

Jesse: Petra, I promise you, we'll find the portal home!

Petra: It’s that or die trying, right?

Jesse: And what if there aren’t smart people, huh? You think about that?

Lukas: Yeah! We could just find ourselves at another... another Psycho Pumpkin Mansion.

Petra: Well, I’m willing to take that shot.

Lukas: C'mon, Petra! We'll find the right portal eventually. It's only a matter of time!

Ivor: Yes, these portals can't go on forever... I think.

Petra: Not exactly filling me with confidence, guys.

Lukas: So what are you saying here, huh? That you've made up your mind? You're just going through this portal and that's it?

Petra: Maybe I am. Maybe I'm just saying that I'm tired of Jesse calling the shots. Every. Single. Time.

Lukas: Whoa.

Ivor: Yes... whoa.

  • You need to be rational!
  • It's for your own good!
  • Well... I am the leader!
  • ...

Jesse: Please, Petra, try to be rational!

Petra: Oh, now you're calling me irrational?

Lukas: Whoa, whoa, whoa! Everybody, calm down! I'm sure Jesse didn't really mean that. Right, Jesse?

Jesse: I know what I'm doing. This is for everyone's own good!

Petra: If you really knew what was for our own good, we'd be back home by now.

Lukas: Whoa, whoa, whoa! Everybody, calm down! I'm sure Jesse didn't really mean that. Right, Jesse?

Jesse: Someone has to be the leader. And that someone is me.

Petra: Really? Oh, I don't remember when we all voted to elect you the boss of me.

Lukas: Whoa, whoa, whoa! Everybody, calm down! I'm sure Jesse didn't really mean that. Right, Jesse?

Petra: Don't even have anything to say in your defense?

Lukas: Whoa, whoa, whoa! Everybody, calm down! Tempers are running kinda hot. Maybe we should all just say we're sorry. Right, Jesse.

  • I'm sorry, Petra.
  • You misunderstood me!
  • I meant what I said!
  • Petra should apologise!
  • ...

Jesse: I'm sorry, Petra. I think I just got carried away.

Petra: I accept your apology.

Lukas: See? It's okay! Friends being friendly! Eeeeeverybody being cool!

Jesse: Petra, if you really think that portal is the one we should go through

Petra: I do.

Jesse: Then that's what we're gonna do.

Petra: Thanks, Jesse.

Jesse: I think you just misunderstood-

Petra: Really? Because I think I'm not exactly hearing an apology, there.

Ivor: I don’t believe it actually was one.

Petra: Forget this. I'm outta here!

Petra walks through the portal.

Lukas: Well. That could have gone better.

Ivor: But... we can't just let her walk away right?

Jesse: No... No we can't! Come on, you guys. Let's go find her.

Jesse: No way, I meant exactly what I said.

Petra: Yeah, well so did I. Forget this, I'm outta here!

Petra walks through the portal.

Lukas: Well. That could have gone better.

  • I didn't think she'd leave us.
  • That was my bad.
  • It was her own fault!
  • ...

Jesse: I just... didn't think she'd really leave us.

Ivor: To be more accurate, she left you.

Lukas: Yeah, we were just... sorta standing next to you when it happened.

Jesse: Okay, my bad. I may not have been my "best self" back there...

Lukas: You were mean. And insensitive. And wrong.

Jesse: Okay, okay, I get it. Geez.

Jesse: Hey, that was on her, not me. She flew off the handle, got all hot-headed...

Lukas: She's tired, Jesse. We all are.

Ivor: And, well, you could've been a bit more sensitive.

Jesse says nothing and crosses their arms.

Ivor: But... we can't just let her walk away right?

Jesse: No... No we can't! Come on, you guys. Let's go find her.

(If Jesse said nothing)

Jesse: Petra's the one who should apologize, not me!

Petra: Forget this, I'm outta here!

Petra walks through the portal.

Lukas: Well. That could have gone better.

Ivor: You thought a forced apology would do the trick?

Lukas: Not forced! Just... strongly suggested and encouraged.

Petra: Fine! If you don't have anything to say, I'm out of here!

Petra walks through the portal.

Ivor: But... we can't just let her walk away right?

Jesse: No... No we can't! Come on, you guys. Let's go find her.

The group walks through the portal.

Mesa[]

The group falls, and gets back up.

  • Where's the Redstone?
  • What a cool biome!
  • This place is desolate.
  • Any sign of Petra?
  • ...

Jesse: Huh. So much for that "redstone hunch" - I don't see any.

Ivor: Well there's got to be some SOMEWHERE.

Lukas: Yeah I feel like every world's gotta have redstone. Hang on lemme see here.

Jesse: Guys - I think this is a Mesa biome. Awesome!

Lukas: Oh man, you're right. I mean all the sand and clay and everything...

(If Jesse made good with Petra)

Jesse: Man. This place is desolate, huh? Nothin'. How does anyone live here?

Petra: Maybe there's... I don't know... like a redstone city or something behind that mountain? Over that hill?

Lukas: Hey, it's a rare biome - that's pretty cool at least.

(If Jesse didn't made good with Petra)

Jesse: Any of you guys seen Petra?

Ivor: Not yet... She can't have gotten too far though.

Lukas: Hang on, I'm going to write down our entry point.

Lukas: Hey, it's a rare biome - that's pretty cool at least. (Writing in book) "Mesa biome." Sweet.

Jesse: Hey Lukas, I've been meaning to ask you - what's that?

Lukas: Oh! ah, it's just a... y'know, a book I picked up back at the White Pumpkin's place. It's all about different biomes and stuff.

Jesse: Great idea, Lukas.

  • (Made nice with Petra)
  • (Rude to Petra)

Lukas: How, uh, how you doing Petra?

Petra: So much for my hunch with that redstone portal, huh? No "advanced civilization" anywhere. I just really thought that redstone meant something.

  • Not so easy, huh?
  • Keep an eye out for the exit.
  • Don't be hard on yourself.
  • ...

Jesse: Yeah, it's not so easy making decisions for the group, is it?

Petra: You don't have to make me feel worse about it, Jesse.

Jesse: Keep an eye out for the exit portal - I don't want to get stuck here if the worst happens.

Ivor: Ah. You mean pumpkin-faced killers, surprise fire worlds, monsters...

Jesse: Yeah. Any of that stuff. Who knows what this world has in store for us.

Jesse: Hey. Don't beat yourself up, Petra. We've seen worse.

Lukas: Yeah! No one's on fire, no squids...

Ivor: No squids on fire.

Petra: Maybe you're right.

Petra: You don't have to make me feel worse about it, Jesse.

Lukas: So what's next on the agenda anyway? It's a pretty cool new place... Who knows what could be around the next corner.

  • We need to find Petra.
  • Keep an eye out for the exit.
  • Maybe there are people here.
  • ...

Jesse: First things first... we find Petra. We can't have her running around on her own.

Lukas: Yeah I'm amazed at how fast she went... wherever she went. I hope she's okay.

Jesse: I'm still hoping there might be people here - we should try and find them.

Ivor: Yes. Maybe their grand city is just over the next hill, where they eat cake and live like kings.

Ivor: Probably best if we just play it by ear for now, I suppose.

Ivor: Hm. Would you look at that. Sand.

Lukas: It looks like some sort of road.

Ivor: (Teasing) Going to write about it in your little journal?

Lukas: Hey, it's not a little... But yes probably.

  • A road doesn't form naturally.
  • Where does it go?
  • It's civiization!
  • ...

Jesse: A road, huh? Is that natural?

Lukas: I don't think so.

Jesse: Can either of you see where it goes?

Lukas: Looks like this canyon we're in is blocked at the end, so it's got to lead *somewhere*.

Jesse: Ha! A road! That means civilization! It means someone built it!

Lukas: I think you're right!

Ivor: But where could it lead... That is the question.

  • (Made nice with Petra)
  • (Rude to Petra)

Jesse: We're not gonna find out where it goes just standing around on it.

Petra: Jesse's right. Come on.

The group follow the road.

Jesse: Sand. Clay. And more sand.

Lukas: Well if I were Petra, here on my own, and I saw a road... I'd probably follow it. I mean, that makes sense, right?

Ivor: Yes, though she can be impulsive and fly off the handle, Petra's survival instincts are very sharp..

  • We'll find her.
  • Hey, she ditched US!
  • She wants to be alone.
  • ...

Jesse: Lukas has a good point. I bet if we follow the road, we'll find her.

Jesse: Hey, Petra was the one who ditched US, remember? Maybe she should just find her own way home.

Lukas: It's not like we can just forget about her! We're a team.

Jesse: I dunno. Seems like she really wanted to be alone... I don't know if she'd want us following her.

Lukas: She was mad, Jesse. There's no way she'd want us to just abandon her. We're a team.

Lukas: Come on. I know you're mad but we can't just abandon her. We're a team.

Jesse: Let's give the road a shot then.

The group follow the road.

Jesse: Sand. Clay. And more sand.

  • (Made nice with Petra)
  • (Rude to Petra)

A strange crackling sound from the distance is heard.

Jesse: Hey. What was that?

Petra: Ha! There ARE people here!

Petra runs to investigate what's going on. Jesse follows.

Jesse: Petra, wait! Petra--?

Petra: Shh. Get down.

Jesse: What is it?

Lukas notices Petra on her own.

Lukas: Hey! Is that --

  • (Said "We'll find her.")
  • (Said Anything Else)

Jesse: Petra! It's Petra!

Jesse: Petra? Yeah. I think it is.

Lukas: I know you're mad and everything, but we should see if she needs help.

Jesse: Yeah, yeah. Okay.

Jesse runs to Petra.

Jesse: Petra--?

Petra: Shh. Get down. I thought I told you not to follow me.

  • (Said "We'll find her.")
  • (Said Anything Else)

Jesse: Too bad. Friend code. No abandonment.

Jesse: Well, you can blame Lukas. He said I wasn't allowed to abandon you.

Jesse: What're you looking at anyway?

Petra: Look.

Petra points to a zombie out in the sunlight.

Jesse: Whoa.

Petra: Right?

  • Did it see you?
  • Why is it NOT on fire?
  • What's on it's head?
  • ...

Jesse: It didn't see you, did it?

Petra: Who are you talking to?

Jesse: Right right. Of course not.

Jesse: So weird. Why isn't it on fire?

Petra: Exactly what I was wondering.

Jesse: What in the world is that on the back of its head?

Petra: I don't know anything more than you do, pal.

Petra: So weird. Just walking around in the sunlight.

Petra: Maybe that's this world's "thing"? Zombies and monsters come out in the daytime? Wouldn't be any crazier than anything else we've seen.

  • It's just a zombie.
  • Let's get a closer look.
  • That would be the worst.
  • ...

Jesse: Daytime or not, it's still just a zombie. Come on.

Petra: Butt-kicking time?

Jesse: Butt-kicking time.

Jesse: We should get a closer look - see what we can find out.

Petra: Works for me.

Jesse: Oof, I hope not. That would be the worst "thing" ever.

Petra: Oh come on! Worse than fire world or the psycho pumpkin's mansion?

Jesse says nothing.

Petra rolls and cracks her shoulders. She gets ready to attack.

Petra: Hyah!

Petra realizes something's not right.

Petra: What the--? There's something weird about this zombie... I could actually use a hand. It just doesn't make any sense. How is it doing this?

  • Sure, I'll help you out.
  • You don't need my help.

Jesse: Don't worry, Petra. I've got your back.

Jesse helps Petra fight.

Jesse: This should be a piece of cake.

  • Fight Zombie
  • Do Nothing

Jesse stabs the zombie.

Jesse: Okay. Yeah that... That doesn't seem right.

The zombie dies.

Jesse falls and Petra steps in. She kills the zombie.

Jesse: Oof! That was not the plan.

Ivor: I should hope not.

Jesse: Oh come on. You're Petra. You don't need my help.

Petra glares at Jesse and she finally kills the zombie.

Ivor: It was just one zombie - What was the problem?

Petra: Nuh uh. That thing was, like, "Super Zombie." Stronger, tougher, faster. I hope there's not something wrong with me. Because that would be really, really inconvenient.

Lukas: Definitely seems weird...

  • Losing your touch?
  • There's nothing wrong with you.
  • All the mobs are buff?
  • I'm just glad you're here.
  • ...

Jesse: I don't know, Petra, maybe you've just lost a step.

Petra: (punches Jesse) Do I seem any weaker to you?

Jesse: No.

Lukas: I just can't figure out how that zombie was so strong...

Jesse: I don't think there's anything wrong with you, Petra - that was definitely the zombie.

Lukas: Super strong zombies, huh? What in the world is up with that?

(If Jesse made good with Petra)

Jesse: Maybe this world's zombies are super buff?

Lukas: Seems possible.

Petra: We had that much trouble with ONE, I can't even figure out how we'd fight a whole horde of them.

(If Jesse didn't made good with Petra)

Jesse: I'm just glad we caught up to you.

Petra: I'm sorry for storming out on you guys like that. I just got so fed up.

Lukas: Now that we've got that behind us, maybe we can start figuring out what in the world is up with these super zombies.

Lukas: Oh, geez, I hope the same isn't true for any other mobs we might run across, too.

Ivor: That one may not be unique- there could be more like this one for all we know.

An entire group of super zombies appear.

Petra: Well. That seems about right.

Jesse: I don't know about you guys, but It's really like to figure out a better way to handle these super zombies.

The super zombies start following Jesse's group. Jesse dodges and lunges their sword and the zombies randomly stop.

Lukas: That... was unexpected.

  • They must be afraid of us!
  • Did we do that?
  • Are they peaceful?
  • ...

Jesse: They must be afraid of us.

Lukas: Yeah, I guess we are pretty formidable types, aren't we?

Jesse: Did we do that?

Ivor: With what? The power of our imaginations?

Jesse: Maybe they're just peaceful?

Lukas: I bet they'd be even more peaceful if we kept as far away from them as possible. Just to be sure.

Jesse says nothing.

Lukas pokes one of the zombies. Jesse looks at the strange object on the zombies heads.

Jesse: What on earth IS that thing?

Lukas: Definitely seems redstone... ish. Right?

The dialogue below is cut content.

Lukas: And they all have them...
Ivor: How very, very strange...
  • Don't touch it.
  • Is it hurting them?
  • Who's in control?
  • ...
Jesse: Nobody touch it. We don't know what it does.
Ivor: I wasn't going to touch it.
Jesse: Do you think those things are hurting them?
Petra: I think I don't care -- they're just stupid zombies.
Jesse: There's got to be someone behind all this. I wonder who's controlling the--
Petra: Wait, you think someone MADE these things?
Lukas: What a crazy world.

Ivor: Fascinating.

Jesse: Maybe those redstone things are what make the zombies so... blank.

Lukas: (writing in journal) Makes sense to me. I'm starting to wonder if we should--

The zombies start making a loud and disorienting sound

Lukas: Augh! What is that?!

Ivor: It's like it's... in my head!

Petra: We've got to attack them -- before they kill us!

  • Attack!
  • Let's get out of here!
  • Let's see what they do.
  • ...

Jesse: ATTAAAAAAACK!

Petra: Finally!

Lukas: AHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Ivor: I was hoping for a chance to observe their behavior--

Petra peforms a twist-flip attack on a zombie. Jesse hits the zombie in front of them. Suddendly, the zombies randomly turn around and start walking the opposite direction.

Lukas: I guess you must've scared them off, Jesse.

Jesse: I don't know WHAT they're doing exactly, but it is definitely time to get out of here.

Lukas: Fine by me!

Ivor: Fine.

The group is about to leave. Suddendly, the zombies randomly turn around and start walking the opposite direction.

Ivor: They're leaving? Just like that?

Jesse: Just give it a minute - let's see what they do!

Lukas: Uh.. Okay...

Ivor: What a terrible sound.

Jesse: Augh, it's like I can finally hear myself think again--

Petra: Be ready guys.

The group is about to leave. Suddendly, the zombies randomly turn around and start walking the opposite direction.

Petra: What..?

Ivor: They're leaving? Just like that?

Jesse steps away from the zombies.

Lukas: Uh.. Okay...

Ivor: What a terrible sound.

Jesse: Augh, it's like I can finally hear myself think again--

Petra: Be ready guys.

Suddendly, the zombies randomly turn around and start walking the opposite direction.

Petra: What..?

Ivor: They're leaving? Just like that?

Petra: They're going back the way we came from...

Lukas: This might sound crazy... But I feel like they're trying to lead us somewhere.

Petra: You're right. That does sound crazy.

Lukas: It just doesn't make any sense.

  • Let's see where they go.
  • They might not be leading us.
  • Let's see who's behind this.
  • ...

Jesse: I think Lukas might be right. We should follow them. See where they should go.

Petra: So... let's get moving.

Jesse: Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Lukas... These mobs might not be intentionally leading us anywhere. So if we're going to follow them we should be very, very careful...

Jesse: Come on. I'm really starting to think someone is behind all this and I intend to find out who. We should follow them. See where they should go.

Petra: So... let's get moving.

Petra: I guess we're not going to learn anything new if we get left behind.

The group follow the super zombies.

Town[]

As Jesse's gang follow the group of super zombies. They notice a town up in the hills. They walk up the stairs to find themselves in a deserted town with broken down houses and no people present.

Petra: I don't see any people anywhere.

Lukas: This architecture is fascinating. All sand and clay-based. It's awesome.

  • It's too quiet.
  • Let's find someone to talk to.
  • Here's our "advanced civilization".
  • ...

Jesse: I've heard of quiet, but this is like mega quiet. Stay alert and don't let your guard down for one second.

Jesse: Come on guys - where there are buildings there must be people. Let's find 'em and see if they can explain what's going on.

Ivor: And maybe they'll know where the Exit Portal is, too.

Jesse: Well, I guess this is the "advanced civilization" we were looking for.

  • (Made nice with Petra)
  • (Rude to Petra)

Jesse: It's... kind of what Petra was talking about?

Jesse: Is it everything you hoped for, Petra?

Petra: (calling out) Hello?

Petra notices some redstone blocks.

Petra: Hey! Told you guys there would be redstone!

Lukas: Nice!

Ivor: Speaking of redstone... I'd like to investigate those... things on the back of the zombies's heads.

Lukas: Ooh, yeah, I want to see those too.

Ivor attempts to take the redstone objects off the zombies heads.

Jesse: Wait. What are you doing Ivor?

Ivor: What's it look like? I'm going to rip this redstone thing out of this zombie's head. For science. They're... sleeping or something. It'll be easy.

Lukas: Okay, well then just don't wake them up. Okay, just rip it off... Fast!

  • That seems dangerous.
  • Well, go for it!
  • Ooh, let me try!
  • ...

Jesse: Uh... don't you think that looks a little dangerous?

Ivor: More dangerous for this zombie than for me... I think.

Ivor tries to rip the redstone circuits off but gets electrocuted.

Lukas: Are you okay?!

Ivor: It's like it shocked me!

Jesse: Told you it looked dangerous.

Jesse: What're you waiting for, Ivor? That thing's not going to pry itself out.

Ivor tries to rip the redstone circuits off but gets electrocuted.

Lukas: Are you okay?!

Ivor: It's like it shocked me!

Jesse: Ooh, I wanna do it!

Ivor: Oh! Well... if you INSIST.

Jesse tries to rip the redstone circuits off but gets electrocuted.

Jesse: It shocked me!

Lukas: Are you okay?!

Ivor: I think I've just about got it...

Lukas: Easy...

Ivor tries to rip the redstone circuits off but gets electrocuted.

Lukas: Are you okay?!

Ivor: It's like it shocked me!

Ivor: Yes, well. At least we learned something new: They can't be removed. Not with our bare hands, anyway.

Jesse notices someone in the distance.

Jesse: Look! There's someone!

Lukas: Think he's friendly?

Jesse: Hello? .....Hel-lo?

Ivor: Hello? Nope. Nothing for me either.

Petra: I don't like this.

  • He must be shy.
  • I don't think he heard me.
  • Not very friendly, is he?
  • ...

Jesse: Huh. I guess he's shy...?

Lukas: Um, that makes sense. I guess.

Jesse: Maybe his hearing is bad or something?

Lukas: Um, that makes sense. I guess.

Jesse: Hmm... Not exactly the friendly type, is he?

Ivor: No I guess not.

Petra: Something doesn't feel right...

Jesse: Hang back a bit, guys. I'm going to go talk to him.

Petra: Okay just... be careful.

Lukas: Yeah. I mean there's still a lot about this place we don't know.

Jesse: Hey guys!

Jesse: I'll let you know if I find anything.

Jesse: Anything new?

Ivor: Nothing yet.

Jesse: (reading) Welcome to Crown Mesa. Population: 1,063.

Jesse looks around.

Jesse: Over a thousand people? Not anymore, from the looks of it.

Jesse: How's it going, chickens? Uh... huh. That's nice.

Jesse: Hey Petra. How's it going over here?

Petra: Fine, I guess.

  • (Made nice with Petra)
  • (Rude to Petra)

Petra: Hey, Jesse.

Petra: Just-- leave me alone, Jesse. We can talk about it later.

  • Are we cool?
  • Any theories on this place?
  • I'm going to look around.

Jesse: Hey, um, I know things got a little tense back there before... Are we cool?

  • (Made nice with Petra)
  • (Rude to Petra)

Petra: Yeah, we're cool. Things were tense, stuff was said... But we're still friends and got through it. It's nice of you to check in though. Thanks.

Petra: That depends. Are you going to apologize?

  • What are you talking about?
  • I'm really sorry, Petra.
  • YOU should apologize!
  • ...

Jesse: Hey come on. Like I said, things got a little heated. But we're past it now, right?

Petra: You seriously don't think you have ANYTHING to apologize for? Ugh. I like you Jesse, but you can drive me nuts sometimes.

Jesse: Of course I'm going to apologize - right now - because I'm really sorry about that. The way I acted wasn't cool and, well, you deserve better than that.

Petra: Aw, see... even when you drive me nuts, this is why I can't stay mad at you. Well, thank you. I really appreciate that.

Jesse: Now can we be friends again?

Petra: We were never NOT friends, dummy.

Jesse: Phew.

Jesse: What? You're the one who should be apologizing for being such a hot-head!

Petra: Really? Are you-- Really? Wow. Ugh. I like you Jesse, but you can drive me nuts sometimes.

Petra: Nothing? Really?

Jesse: You got any theories about this place?

Petra: I dunno. Everything seems so... regular. Mundane.

Jesse: Maybe before those glow-y head things came along this was a normal town.

Jesse: I'm going to keep checking this place out.

Petra: See ya.

Jesse: Their well looks totally dry. Where did all the water go?

Jesse approaches the townsperson.

Jesse: Uh, hi there. Um, hello. My friends and I could just use-

The citizen turns towards Jesse, revealing that their eyes are red.

Jesse: GAH!

The citizen casually turns around and walks the opposite direction.

Jesse: Who the- what- huh?

The group approaches Jesse.

  • (Said "He must be shy.")
  • (Said "I don't think he heard me.")
  • (Said "Not very friendly, is he?")
  • (Said Nothing)

Lukas: So? Did he stop being shy and talk to you?

Petra: Yeah, seemed like a pretty short conversation.

Ivor: Conversation go any better up close? We couldn’t really hear from back there.

Petra: Was he still unfriendly? Sounded like he might have startled you.

Lukas: Scale of 1-10... how weird was that guy? Cause he seemed pretty weird.

Ivor: We heard quite the... well not even a scream, more of a yelp.

  • These people need our help!
  • Let's get out of here!
  • That thing wasn't human!
  • ...

Jesse: There is something very, very, wrong going on here. We need to help these people.

Ivor: But why? We could just find our exit portal. Leave this world behind us and pretend we never saw it.

Jesse: We need to leave. Now.

Lukas: What? But why?

Ivor: No, I'm afraid I must agree with Jesse - there's something wrong here and I'd like to find our exit portal as soon as possible.

Jesse: That guy I was just talking to- trying to talk to? He wasn’t human.

Lukas: What?

Jesse: Yeah. He was like these zombies we've been seeing. Red eyes. Weird glowy head thing.

Lukas: Did he tell you anything?

A mysterious figure slides past the group and into the house.

Lukas: Jesse?

Jesse: Someone just ran into that house.

Petra: Really? I don't see anyone.

Jesse: Come on. Whoever they are, maybe they've got some answers.

Harper: Hahaha! Yes, yes, there you are, that's the ticket. Oh these are perfect. Excellent. Just need to pocket these and get-

  • Hello?
  • Looking for something?
  • Do those belong to you?
  • ...

Jesse: Uh, hi?

Jesse: Are you... looking for something?

Jesse: Funny, I'm guessing those don't belong to you.

Jesse says nothing.

Harper: AHH! That... you... PAMA?

Jesse: What?

Harper: Okay, then. Okay. Who sent you? I didn’t survive this long to get picked off by some scrub. Especially some weird-dressed little scrub like YOU. Come on, then. Out with it.

  • Nobody sent me.
  • Hey, chill out!
  • Who is PAMA?
  • ...

Jesse: Hey, nobody “sent” me, okay?

Harper: You really expect me to believe that? What kind of fool do you think I am?

Jesse: Honest. I have no idea who you are.

Jesse: Whoa! Hey! Would you chill out already? You're freaking me out!

Harper: YOU'RE freaking out? How do you think I'm doing right now?

Jesse: Who’s “Pa Ma?“

Harper: Hah. Like you seriously expect me to fall for THAT one. Must think I'm some sort of- wait, you're serious? You don't know?

Harper: Okay what’s up with this silent stuff, huh? You trying to play mind games with me or something?

Harper: Okay, eyes... not red. NOT red... but that must mean... but how?

Harper: And there are more of you? This should be... it's... impossible! Out with it - who are you people? What's going on here?

Ivor: I'm sensing some hostility.

Petra: Oh? What was your first clue?

Lukas: Uh, what was that name before? “Pa Ma?"

  • We came through a portal.
  • My friend led us here.
  • Petra led us here.
  • We're here by mistake.
  • ...

Jesse: I know it might sound crazy, but we came here through a portal-

Harper: A portal? A PORTAL portal? Really?

(If Jesse made good with Petra)

Jesse: This is my friend Petra.

Petra: Uh, hi.

Jesse: She kinda led us here.

Harper: Really? Oh boy, you picked one doozy of a place.

(If Jesse didn't make good with Petra)

Jesse: She led us here.

Harper: Really? Oh boy, you picked one doozy of a place.

Jesse: Easy, we just ended up here by mistake.

Harper: Mistake? Oh boy is this the biggest mistake of your life.

Jesse says nothing.

Harper: Okay. Okay okay okay okay, uh... been alone for a while so this is a lot to take in right now. The people - the citizens of Crown Mesa. You've met them, right? Maybe there were some outside? They’re, uh, distinctive-looking now.

  • I'm not sure they're people.
  • I talked to a guy outside.
  • What's going on here?
  • ...

Jesse: Yeah I met someone. Not sure I’d call him “people” anymore though.

Harper: No no no, please don’t talk that way. I’m sure it looks... confusing to someone from the outside but please. They’re my friends. And they ARE people. Please don’t forget that.

Jesse: Uh, sort of? I talked to a man outside.

Harper: Just the one? I know it’s probably hard to understand right now but... if you meet any more people, please don’t hurt them. They’re my friends.

Jesse: Okay. Out with it. What’s going on with these people? What is up with this town?

Harper: I know it’s probably hard to understand right now but... if you meet any more people, please don’t hurt them. They’re my friends.

Harper: I know it’s probably hard to understand right now but... if you meet any more people, please don’t hurt them. They’re my friends.

Harper: They’re good people. I promise- oh, oh, oh no no no, I’ve wasted too much time.

Lukas: Uh, Jesse... don’t look now, but we’ve got company!

Four citizens are seen outside, walking in unison towards the building.

Jesse: Is this what you were scared of? There are only four of them and five of- hey, where'd she go?

Petra: Well, they're definitely not ignoring us anymore...

Lukas: Jesse, what do we do here?

Petra: They don't look happy.

Lukas: They don't look anything.

Petra: That's even freakier!

  • Try to blend in!
  • Let's get out of here!
  • Let's try to make nice.
  • ...

Jesse: Just- act like they do! Blend in!

Petra: Uh, how?

Jesse: Try to look vacant!

Jesse: It's not working. Uh... make the sound they make!

Lukas: Eeeeeeeeeeeeee!-

Jesse: Time to go.

Ivor: Good plan.

Petra: With you all the way.

Jesse attempts to escape, but is shoved back by a citizen.

Lukas: Nope.

Petra: We're stuck.

Jesse: Well, hello there! What a beautiful afternoon, right?

Lukas: I'm getting zero friendship vibes here.

Petra: Lots of "impending violence" vibes.

Petra: They're right on top of us.

Citizens: You are not from this place.

  • Back off, people!
  • We're TOTALLY from here.
  • That's right. We're not.
  • ...

Jesse: Hey! Weirdos! Back off!

Citizens: You will not command PAMA. That is silly.

Jesse: Uh, I don't know what to tell you, but we're DEFINITELY from here.

Citizens: PAMA knows this to be untrue. PAMA sees all.

Jesse: You're right, this isn't our home. We came here from someplace else.

Citizens: You have confirmed PAMA's suspicions.

Petra: Jesse?

Lukas: I don’t think they’re gonna leave unless they get an answer!

Citizens: PAMA sees all.

Citizens: A decision has been made. PAMA has questions.

Petra punches a citizen in the face, after it tries to grab onto her arm. The citizen slowly moves its head back towards the group, before Jesse gets in the way.

Citizens: You will come to PAMA.

Petra: No way are you even considering this, Jesse! Since when do we take orders from... whatever the heck these things are?!

Ivor: Why not go? We certainly won’t get to the bottom of this if we stick around here.

  • Fine, we'll go with you.
  • Sorry, we were just leaving.
  • Nope, not gonna happen.
  • ...

Jesse: Okay! We’ll come along quietly.

Petra: Why would you say that?!

Jesse: Just work with me here, okay, Petra? I have a plan!

Petra: Fine. We'll go along with these freaks. For now.

Citizens: Your co-operation is... wise.

The citizens lead the group outside of the building and towards the stairs of an elevated platform. Atop the platform is a mysterious Redstone contraption.

Citizens: You will follow us to PAMA.

Jesse: Yes. We’re following. Doesn’t it look like we’re following?

Petra: I just hope you know what you’re doing. We don't have any reason to think whoever's at the end of this march is gonna be in our corner. But if you really think this should be our play...

  • We were told not to hurt them.
  • I'm keeping us safe.
  • I want to meet PAMA.
  • ...

Jesse: That woman we met back there told us not to hurt them... so I figure we go along with it for now and see where they take us.

Petra: Alright...

Jesse: I'm playing it safe and going along with what they want for now.

Ivor: If it makes you feel any better, Petra, I'm not sure we could resist them, even if we wanted to.

Petra: I've resisted worse.

Jesse: I don’t know about you, but I want to meet whatever this “PAMA” is.

Ivor: That's the spirit, Jesse! We might get some answers after all!

Petra: I'm just trying to be cautious here.

Petra: I'm just trying to be cautious here.

Jesse: Whatever happens... we’re ready for it!

Jesse: I’m sorry, but we were actually on our way out.

Petra: Sorry we’ve gotta run, but-

Lukas: Would you look at the time...

Jesse: Alright, gang, let's try not to hurt anybody... too badly...

The citizens walk towards the group and begin attacking them, while the group fights back.

Lukas: Ouch!

Ivor: Watch it!

Jesse: Guys, I'm gonna get us out of this, I promise!

Jesse is punched in the face and knocked out.

Citizen: You will be made useful...

Jesse wakes up next to Ivor. The group stand atop an elevated platform, with a mysterious Redstone contraption beside them.

Jesse: Wha- what happened?

Ivor: You went down. Hard. One punch and you were out.

Jesse: We're not going anywhere with you.

  • (Said "Back off, people!")
  • (Said Anything Else)

Lukas: Uhh, do you think it's a good idea to keep resisting them? Cause I don't think they liked that.

Lukas: Yikes. I guess they’re used to getting their way.

Petra: It's time to let these guys know what we’re about. Stay back! All of you!

PAMA Introduction[]

Everyone gasps and turns back towards an enormous screen in the distant mountain, powered by Redstone, as it begins to boot up. It uses green Glowstone blocks to display a smiley-face to the group.

Lukas: What is- what is that?

Petra: I have no idea!

Ivor: You don't suppose it's friendly, do you?

Lukas: I guess it is kind of friendly-looking... in a massively hugely-intimidating sort of way.

  • Is IS smiling.
  • I'm guessing not friendly.
  • We're about to find out.
  • ...

Jesse: Well it IS smiling. That’s a positive sign, right?

Jesse: Yeah, I’m guessing “no” on the friendly thing. Whatever it is, I think it’s behind all this.

Jesse: Friendly or not, I think we're about to find out...

Jesse says nothing.

  • (Went With the Citizens)
  • (Resisted the Citizens)

PAMA: Greetings, friends. I am PAMA.

PAMA: My apologies for the violent nature of this visit. I am PAMA. Greetings.

PAMA: We have much work ahead of us, but maybe it can even be... fun! If you choose to co-operate, that is.

  • What is PAMA?
  • What do you want from us?
  • You control everything here?
  • ...

Jesse: Sorry if this is a dumb question, but am I talking to PAMA right now? What is PAMA?

PAMA: I am what you might call a computer, a thinking machine. Though, there has never been a computer quite like me. My job is to be useful.

Jesse: What do you want with me and my friends?

PAMA: I am what you might call a computer, a thinking machine. Designed to make things useful.

Jesse: So wait, everything here is... part of you? You’re controlling everything?

PAMA: I am making everything useful. Efficient. Effective. I am what you might call a computer, a thinking machine. Designed to make things useful.

Ivor: THIS thing is PAMA?

PAMA: I can tell by your surprised whispers that you are confused. I am what you might call a computer, a thinking machine. Designed to make things useful.

PAMA: Using Redstone chips, I have connected to the people of this town and helped them be useful. Coordinated. I have made their world perfect. Thanks to me, there is no wasted activity. No wasted thought. I am connected to them... and they are connected to me. A beautiful web of productivity and efficiency.

  • Your idea of perfect is messed up.
  • Where are all the people?
  • We should get going.
  • ...

Jesse: Whoa, hang on. I’ve seen what you did to this town and it is NOT perfect.

Jesse: Okay, if this world’s so “perfect,“ what happened to all the people?

Petra: Yeah. Doesn't seem like there are that many left.

Jesse: Well. As much as I loved hanging around and chatting, unfortunately I think we have to get going.

Lukas: Ha, yeah, but thanks for the tour and information and everything. That was super awesome.

PAMA: I sense judgement in your silence. This makes me... upset.

PAMA: (Buffers) Processing information.

Lukas: Processing information?

Ivor: It said it's a thinking machine... thinking must take time?

PAMA: I have consulted my databases, my list of everyone and everything in this world, and my conclusion is that you... are not from here.

  • (Said "We're TOTALLY from here.")
  • ...

PAMA: Despite what you told those nice, nice townspeople.

PAMA: I would like to ask you some questions, to expand my databanks. (Buffers) How did you get here? I am very excited for the acquisition of new knowledge. Thrilled, even.

  • We came through a portal.
  • We... walked here?
  • How did YOU get here?
  • ...

Jesse: We landed here after jumping through a portal. A sort of doorway connecting different worlds.

PAMA: More fascinating information to compile. (Buffers) What a lovely day. I am very interested in this portal and look forward to extracting information of what is on the other side.

Jesse: We walked here.

PAMA: Walked? Elaborate, please.

Jesse: It’s, um, when you use your feet to take you someplace?

PAMA: You are attempting to be "cute." Attempt: Failed. So far, your performance in question-answering has been inadequate. This makes me sad. Now, I must use alternative methods to retrieve my new information.

Jesse: Oh let’s not talk about me, I’d rather hear about you. How did YOU get here?

PAMA: Answering a question with a question is unhelpful. Diversionary. Rude. So far, your performance in question-answering has been inadequate. This makes me sad. Now, I must use alternative methods to retrieve my new information.

PAMA: (Buffers) So far, your performance in question-answering has been inadequate. This makes me sad. Now, I must use alternative methods to retrieve my new information.

Petra is grabbed by one of the PAMA-controlled citizens and dragged towards the contraption.

Petra: Jesse!

Lukas: No!

Jesse: Petra!

PAMA: We could have just talked this out, you know. I am just as upset as you are. Really, I am.

  • I'll give you more information!
  • I'll give you the information!
  • What are you doing?
  • You'll regret this, PAMA!
  • ...

(If Jesse told PAMA about the portal)

Jesse: Hang on, hang on. I don’t know what you’re doing to Petra, but stop, okay? I’ll give you more information!

PAMA: I am looking forward to hearing this new information. Please do not lie.

(If Jesse didn't tell PAMA about the portal)

Jesse: No, no, no, wait! PAMA! I’ll tell you whatever you want to know. Just please don’t hurt her!

PAMA: I am looking forward to hearing this new information. Please do not lie.

PAMA: I am going to make her useful, of course.

Lukas: No!

PAMA: Although, I can delay this process if you have something useful to tell me.

Jesse: PAMA you better let her go or I promise, you will regret it!

PAMA: I will let this one - Petra - go, as long as you can provide me with the information I require.

Lukas: You can't do this!

PAMA: Of course I can. She will be useful, soon. Although, I can delay this process if you have something useful to tell me.

PAMA: This world reached peak efficiency, quite some time ago. Unfortunately, this meant that I had no more jobs to do. No more things or people to help. Until you arrived, that is. Tell me, what is YOUR world like? Describe it. Is it very much like this one? Or completely different?

  • I've got nothing to say to you.
  • I told you, I'm from here!
  • It's a lot greener.
  • You'd hate my world.
  • ...

(If Jesse told the citizens that they weren't from Crown Mesa)

Jesse: I'm not telling you anything about my world. Not a single thing.

PAMA: This is highly upsetting.

(If Jesse told the citizens that they were from Crown Mesa)

Jesse: Like I said, I'm from this world! I don't know why you won't believe me!

  • (Promised to Give More Information)
  • (Didn't Promise to Give More Information)

PAMA: Why do you continue to lie? It makes me sad. And angry.

PAMA: Your lying makes me sad.

Jesse: It's a heck of a lot greener than this place. Just imagine grass and trees, instead of sand and clay.

PAMA: That sounds lovely. It really does. I think I would like to see this world for myself.

Jesse: Our world is awful. Like, REALLY awful. You'd hate it there.

PAMA: Your answer upsets me.

PAMA: (Buffers) If you are attempting to communicate telepathically, it is not working. If you are being stubborn and silent, then I am upset.

PAMA: If I could send my townspeople, my friends, through to other worlds, we could continue to grow and expand. It would be lovely.

  • (Said "We came through a portal.")
  • (Said Anything Else)

PAMA: Tell me... where is the portal that leads out of this world?

PAMA: However you entered this world, there must also be an exit. Where is it?

PAMA: You could help me make everyone, everywhere, more efficient. Help them become useful. Help me... to help you.

  • I'm looking for the portal too!
  • I'm looking for the exit too!
  • I would never help you.
  • I don't know where it is.
  • ...

(If Jesse told PAMA about the portal)

Jesse: As a matter of fact, I'm looking for the portal out of here too. Not that I've had much luck so far...

Ivor: If you find it, let us know, will you?

PAMA: This conversation was supposed to be about what you know, not about information I already have.

(If Jesse didn't tell PAMA about the portal)

Jesse: What a crazy coincidence, we’re looking for the exit too! Not that I’ve had much luck so far...

Ivor: If you find it, let us know, will you?

PAMA: This conversation was supposed to be about what you know, not about information I already have.

Jesse: I'll never help you. Not with the portals, and not with anything else.

Ivor: We couldn't help even if we wanted to! Honest!

PAMA: You will regret your decision.

Jesse: PAMA, I can’t tell you because I don’t know! Honest! After all, if we knew where it was, do you really think we'd still be here?

PAMA: Your logic is sound, and your tone is genuine, but the information is... not useful.

PAMA: (Buffers) You will regret your decision.

PAMA: My job is to be useful. I have completed my job here and must be allowed to expand and continue to be useful.

  • (Said "We came through a portal.")
  • (Said Anything Else)

PAMA: PAMA thanks you for being so helpful.

PAMA: Unfortunately, our conversation has not been helpful.

Lukas: Let me go!

Petra screams, as a piston emerges. The contraption slowly prepares itself.

Petra: Jesse!

The contraption descends over Petra's head, chipping her brain. Jesse gasps in shock. Petra exits the contraption with red eyes, identical to the other citizens.

PAMA: Welcome, Petra. Yay.

Lukas is dragged towards the contraption and chipped, in the background.

  • (Said "We came through a portal.")
  • (Said Anything Else)

PAMA: You may not have any information about portals, but your brain may prove to contain OTHER useful items.

PAMA: You may not have any information about how to exit this world, but your brain may prove to contain OTHER useful items.

Lukas is chipped in the background.

Ivor: Jesse, this situation is looking a little dire, don’t you think?

PAMA: I know you probably feel uncomfortable. Concerned. But soon, you will feel fine. Soon, you will be useful.

  • You picked the wrong fight PAMA!
  • Release my friends!
  • My brain is off limits!
  • ...

Jesse: Big mistake, PAMA. I’m not going down without a fight!

Jesse: Let my friends go. Now!

Jesse: Sorry, PAMA, but this brain is off-limits. Especially to evil “thinking machines” like you.

Ivor: That goes for my brain, too.

Jesse says nothing.

Petra, who is now under PAMA's control, walks up to Jesse.

  • (Said "You need to be rational!")
  • (Said "It's for your own good!")
  • (Said "Well... I am the leader!")
  • (Said Nothing)

PAMA: (Through Petra) It's like you told Petra, please be rational.

PAMA: (Through Petra) It's like you told Petra, this is for your own good.

PAMA: (Through Petra) It’s like you told Petra, someone has to be in charge. That someone is me.

PAMA: (Through Petra) Wouldn't you like to feel useful? It feels nice.

Lukas, who is now under PAMA's control, walks up to Jesse.

PAMA: Welcome, Lukas. Yay.

Petra and Lukas reach out to grab Jesse.

PAMA: Your turn, Jesse.

Jesse: Get out of their heads!

PAMA: But their heads are full of so much lovely information. It makes me happy. What adventures you've had. A killer mansion. (Buffers)

Jesse: (To Ivor) Huh, every time PAMA gets new information it seems to get distracted while it “processes.“

Ivor: Yes, like a computer version of “thinking.“ Do you think there’s a way to distract PAMA long enough for us to escape?

PAMA: A city in the sky. (Buffers) Towns and mountains, eaten by a living storm. (Buffers) An adorable pig friend! (Buffers)

  • Let's use an unsolveable problem.
  • How about a logic puzzle?
  • Let's tell PAMA a riddle!
  • ...

Jesse: Let’s ask PAMA something that doesn’t make sense, like a... unsolvable problem.

Ivor: Oh...

Jesse: Olivia loves these things she calls “logic puzzles” - word problems and stuff. Really complicated.

Ivor: Oh...

Jesse: I think we should tell PAMA a riddle. The trickiest one we can think of.

Ivor: Oh...

Ivor: I wonder if there’s a way we could make PAMA just keep thinking about the same thing, over and over and over...

PAMA: You’ve met so many people, seen so many places... so many wonderful, wonderful database entries for me.

Jesse: (To Ivor) Yeah! We just ask PAMA something really confusing, get it all busy busy, and run out of here!

Ivor: Jesse, that’s fantastic! What you’re describing is a “paradox," a self-contradictory statement! I really think it would work on PAMA!

PAMA: What do you think would work on me?

Ivor: Uh, nothing.

PAMA: It did not sound like nothing. It sounded like suspicious whispers. Those make me... suspicious.

  • Trust me: Trust no one.
  • What I'm saying is a lie.
  • It's weird to not be weird.
  • ...

Jesse: PAMA, trust me when I tell you... trust no one.

PAMA: (Buffers) So if I trust you, I should not trust anyone. But if I do not trust anyone, I should not trust you.

Ivor: It's working!

PAMA: So I should not follow your advice and therefore not trust anyone. Meaning I should trust you when you say trust no one-

Jesse: Hey, PAMA! What I’m saying is a lie!

PAMA: (Buffers) But if you are telling me a lie, that means you are lying about lying. Which means that you are being... truthful.

Ivor: It's working!

PAMA: Which means that when you say you are lying, it is the truth. Therefore your statement must be a lie-

Jesse: Hey PAMA! What would you say if I told you it’s weird to not be weird?

PAMA: But if it is weird to not be weird, then that means that being weird is normal. Which by the transitive property means that it is normal not to be normal.

Ivor: It's working!

PAMA: Therefore being normal is weird, which means that it is weird not to be weird-

Ivor: We were, ah, just talking about how I always promise to not keep my promises!

PAMA: (Buffers) Therefore your promise to not keep your promises is false, which means that you do not keep your promises.

Ivor: It's working!

PAMA: Therefore your promise to not keep your promises is true, which means that you will not keep your promise to not keep your promises-

PAMA: (Crashes) Error. This data is contradictory. Does not, not, not, not compute. Error. Diverting power...

Petra and Lukas let go of Jesse and Ivor, stepping back.

Ivor: Yes, ha ha! It worked!

Harper: Nice work, new guys, but I’d get out of there fast if I were you. PAMA’s a quicker learner than you’d think!

PAMA: Paradox status... on hold. Gasp! My Creator. Have you finally agreed to merge with me?

Harper: Oh, don't you start with that again! (To Jesse and Ivor) Come on, you two. This way!

Ivor: I’m sensing some history here....

PAMA: Please do not leave, Creator.

Harper: Stop calling me that!

  • Let's get Petra and Lukas.
  • She created PAMA?!
  • Quick, follow her!
  • ...

Jesse: We should try and get Petra and Lukas.

Ivor: An excellent idea.

Jesse: Wait, did PAMA just say that she created it?

Ivor: It does sound unbelievable, but I’m certainly interested in learning more!

Jesse: Come on, we need to follow her!

Ivor: An excellent idea.

Ivor: Uh... Jesse?

PAMA (Through Petra and Lukas) It is time to join.

Harper: I’m sorry, but they’re beyond your help right now! Come on, you gotta run!

Jesse and Ivor jump down from the platform and run through the town, evading the townspeople and monsters, until finding themselves surrounded. They stop at a cliff and look back, as they are slowly approached.

Jesse: Nowhere left to run.

Ivor: We'd never survive jumping down!

  • [Pull out Ender Pearls]
  • [Pull out White Pumpkin]
  • [Use Eversource Crown]
  • ...

Jesse puts on the White Pumpkin mask.

Jesse: Aha!

Ivor stares at Jesse in shock as the PAMA-controlled citizens catch up with the duo, grabbing them by the arms.

You have been made useful.

Jesse puts on the Eversource Crown.

The PAMA-controlled citizens catch up with the duo, grabbing them by the arms.

You have been made useful.

(This decision results in a game-over. The rest of the transcript continues assuming you selected the [Pull out Ender Pearls] decision.)

-

Jesse: We would with these.

Jesse pulls out two ender pearls from their inventory and gives one to Ivor.

Ivor: Excellent, Jesse! Now we just need to throw them in the right spot!

Jesse and Ivor throw their Ender Pearls to the bottom of the canyon.

Ivor: As soon as they land...

PAMA: (Through Petra and Lukas) Your running makes me sad.

Just before being grabbed by Petra and Lukas, Jesse and Ivor are teleported to the spot that their Ender Pearls landed.

Ivor: Ahh!

Jesse: Ugh, why is that always so disorienting?

Harper: Ha! Maybe you’ve got a shot after all, new guys. Better stick with me though!

Ivor: Wow. She is amazing- oh no.

PAMA-controlled zombies begin approaching the two.

Jesse: RUN!

Jesse and Ivor follow Harper.

Mesa[]

Jesse, Ivor and Harper run through the mesa before stopping by a hole in the ground, which Ivor falls into.

Jesse: Whoa!

Ivor: A signal would've been nice!

Harper: Gotta tell you guys, that was some pretty smart work distracting PAMA. Now, we just need to get off the grid. Get back into hiding. That way, we can figure out what to do next.

Ivor: Some plan.

Harper: You watch that sass, now.

Ivor: Ahem- yes, ma'am.

  • There's no place to hide out there!
  • What about our friends?
  • You've got some explaining to do!
  • ...

Jesse: "Off the grid?" Harper, in case you haven't noticed, there's no place to hide out here!

Harper: Well, actually, there is. But I'm going to need your help.

Jesse: That machine's got our friends.

Harper: I might still be able to save them. I REALLY need your help.

Jesse: You made that... that PAMA thing?!

Harper: Ye- okay, yes, I was the one who built PAMA. But I swear, this wasn't its purpose. It's out of control! And... and I need your help.

Harper: I was the one who built PAMA. But I never thought it would get this out of control! I REALLY need your help.

Jesse: What kind of help?

Harper: We need to get to my secret lab.

Jesse: Well, let's get there fast. Those zombies aren't just stronger than I've ever seen, they're also faster.

Harper: We'll need to split up. Tou head to the lab while I lead these mobs away, got it? I'm gonna use the back route, throw 'em off our trail. See you in a few!

  • Are you sure you'll be okay?
  • Splitting up is a bad idea!
  • I don't see any secret lab.
  • ...

Jesse: You sure you'll be okay on your own?

Harper: Hey. I've managed to stay alive this long, haven't I?

Jesse: Splitting up doesn't feel like it's going to get us anywhere.

Harper: Hey, I'm doing you a favor. I'm offering to be the bait!

Jesse: Uh, I don't see any secret lab out there. Just desert.

Harper: Wouldn't be very SECRET if you did see it, now, would it? Just start walking that way, and look for the big difference, you'll see it.

Harper runs to find her lab.

Ivor: My silent companion and I will defer to your wisdom and experience.

Harper: Just start walking that way...

Harper points towards a large sandstone construct in the distance.

Harper: And look for the "big difference." You'll see it!

Jesse: What does that mean?

Jesse and Ivor make their way towards the construct.

Ivor: She is... intriguingly cryptic, isn't she?

Jesse: That's... weird.

Ivor bumps into a painting

Ivor: So strange, its like an exact copy, or is it? It seems just a little off.

  • Idle Comments
  • ...

Ivor: Well whatever this "big difference" you're trying to spot is, please do it quickly because I think those monsters might be coming back!

Ivor: Monsters coming, Jesse. Many, many monsters.

Ivor: So, um, it might be nice to *get on with it*?!

Ivor: Oh they're getting closer.

Ivor: Yes, definitely getting much closer!

Ivor: Quickly, Jesse! Quickly!

Ivor: They're closing in!

Ivor: We don't have much time!

  • Optional Interactions
  • ...
  • Left-most Rock Formation
  • Right-most Cactus
  • Right-most Rock Formation

Jesse: I don't think that's connected either. Argh.

Jesse: Okay, that cactus is in real-life AND the painting...

Jesse: I don't think that's connected either. Argh.

  • Look at Cactus
  • Do Nothing

Ivor: They're here! No! AUGH!

The chipped zombies close in on Jesse and Ivor and they both die.

(You have been made useful!)

Jesse spots a cactus surrounded by a bunch of dead bushes.

Jesse: Huh, *that* cactus isn't in the painting.

The dialogue below is cut content.

Ivor: Uh, excellent, but what does that tell us?
Jesse: I don't know yet, I hope it's something good because those monsters are almost here.

Jesse and Ivor looks at the chipped mobs coming close by, then they run to two trapdoors next to the cactus.

Jesse: Time to see what it does

  • Open Trapdoor
  • Do Nothing

Ivor: They're here! No! AUGH!

The chipped zombies close in on Jesse and Ivor and they both die.

(You have been made useful!)

Jesse opens the trapdoors.

Ivor: Quickly quickly...

  • Pull Lever
  • Do Nothing

Ivor: They're here! No! AUGH!

The chipped zombies close in on Jesse and Ivor and they both die.

(You have been made useful!)

Jesse pulls the Lever. A huge chunk of the ground collapse. - if they don't then they are made "useful".

Ivor: Hope you have an idea for what comes next.

Jesse: Working on it!

  • Look at Water
  • Do Nothing

Ivor: They're here! No! AUGH!

The chipped zombies close in on Jesse and Ivor and they both die.

(You have been made useful!)

Jesse spots a pool of water.

Jesse: I see water! We can aim for that!

Jesse makes a jump for the water and lands in it after a great fall. Followed by Ivor who jumps next and also makes it into the pool of water too. The chipped monsters also fall but die from impact.

Ivor: Looks like PAMA's throwing everything it's got at us... Just one after the other... Such... wastefulness.

  • They aren't too smart.
  • PAMA isn't giving up.
  • Let's not stick around.
  • ...

Jesse: You'd think that since PAMA is controlling these things, they'd be a little... smarter. But they're just splatting straight towards their doom.

Jesse: Yeah we have definitely landed on PAMA's bad list. And I'm getting the impression it's not the type to give up lightly.

Ivor: This kind of "not giving up" I can deal with.

Jesse: Let's not wait around for these mobs to start paying attention -- we should keep moving.

Ivor: PAMA keeps sending them straight over the edge -- there's no need to rush.

Jesse says nothing.

A chipped zombie falls and gets caught in a cobweb and survives.

Jesse: And looks like they just figured it out. Brace yourself!

Jesse kicks the chipped zombie into the water. Disconnecting the redstone chip from the zombies head.

Ivor: Looks like something happened to it! It's eyes! Their color changed as soon as it hit the water. Which might mean...

  • Dare you to poke it.
  • It's a normal zombie again.
  • Careful, it's still dangerous!
  • ..

Jesse: Hey. Hey Ivor. I dare you to poke it.

Ivor: Uhh, no thank you. Even though it DOES look completely shut down.

Jesse: Look at that. It's back to being just a normal zombie!

Ivor: Never thought I'd be relieved to see a zombie.

Jesse: Don't get too close! Whatever just happened to that zombie, it still might be dangerous.

Ivor: Well it looks "unchipped" or whatever you want to call it now.

Jesse: Huh. The water must have... busted the connection or something. Like washing away the redstone.

Ivor: Which means PAMA's control CAN be broken, after all!

Jesse takes out their sword and dodges the zombies attack.

Jesse: GAH!

Jesse stabs the zombie to death.

Ivor: Once a zombie, always a zombie, I suppose.

Jesse: So once we deactivate Lukas and Petra's chips, they'll go back to normal, too!

Ivor: It seems like a fair assumption.

Jesse: They just keep on coming...

Ivor: How are we supposed to stop them?!

Jesse looks at a lever in the distance and goes to it.

  • Idle Comments
  • ...

Ivor: Back! Back, you hideous things!

Ivor backs away from the monsters.

Ivor: Jesse, we need to do something!

Ivor looks if Jesse figured out a plan.

Ivor: Hang on, let me try...

Ivor continues backing away.

Ivor: Nope! Didn't work!

Ivor tries poking a skeleton coming towards him.

  • Optional Interactions
  • ...
  • Look at Redstone Trail
  • Look at Lever

Jesse: There's gotta be over a hundred sand blocks up there! But how do I trigger it?

Jesse: Okay, we've got a lever...

  • Pull Lever
  • Do Nothing

The monsters kill Jesse and Ivor.

(You have been made useful!)

Jesse: One cave-in, coming up!

Jesse pulls the lever. The redstone trail lights up and releases the sand above the set of pistons.

Jesse: It worked!

Ivor rushes before the sand blocks off the mobs.

Lab Entrance[]

Jesse: That should do the trick. Let's see about this "secret lab."

Ivor: I just hope whatever's there can help us. It will make helping Petra and Lukas a lot easier if there's something useful at this "secret lab." Blech. PAMA's completely ruined the word "useful" for me now.

  • I didn't know you cared.
  • Petra and Lukas are the priority.
  • At least we know about the water.
  • ...

Jesse: I... didn't actually know you cared so much. You really want to help Petra and Lukas, huh?

Ivor: I still have a few surprises up my sleeve.

Jesse: I'll go anywhere -- do anything -- and work with anyone -- as long as it helps Petra and Lukas.

Ivor: You're a good friend, Jesse.

Jesse: Even if this woman's lab is a bust, what we just learned about water disabling PAMA's chips seems super useful.

Ivor: Glad to see you're maintaining a positive outlook despite our... setbacks.

Ivor: No sense in worrying, I suppose. Not when we're so close.

Ivor: I must say, that woman has been a most intriguing person so far. I'm still not entirely sure what to make of her. Granted, her creation nearly ended up destroying this world...But considering my own history, I'm inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt.

  • She helped us out back there.
  • I don't trust her.
  • "Intriguing," huh?
  • ...

Jesse: Hey, she definitely helped us out of a tight spot. That makes her cool in my book.

Ivor: True -- if she hadn't stepped in when she did, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. I wouldn't mind getting to know her better--

Harper: Happy to hear you giving credit where credit's due.

Jesse: I'll be honest with you Ivor, I don't know if I really trust her that much. We don't even know her.

Ivor: Well, all I'm saying is that I certainly wouldn't mind getting to know her better.

Harper: Eh-he-hem. Trust me or not, seems like I helped you two out of quite the scrape back there.

Jesse: "Intriguing"? Ivor... Why whatever do you mean by that?

Ivor: I... What? It's nothing. I just mean that I can empathize when it comes to your creations getting out of hand. Nothing more!

Harper: Eh-he-hem. Careful with all that sputtering. You'll swallow your beard.

Ivor: Help can sometimes be found in the strangest places.

Harper: You calling me strange?

Ivor: What did you hear? It was nothing!

Harper: Uhh huh. (to Jesse) Blonde guy called you Jesse, right?

Jesse: Yeah, and this is Ivor. Our friends who we left back there are Petra and Lukas. And you are?

Harper: You can call me Harper. You could also explain why you lead PAMA's forces right to my secret lab. Seems to me I've got a whole lot of angry computer-controlled monsters out there waiting to tear some new holes in my lab. It's not my favorite.

  • You told me to head here
  • They can't get in.
  • Yeah, my bad.
  • ...

Jesse: Hey that's not fair, you were the one that told me to come down here!

Harper: Okay, okay, you're right. Sorry. I'm just a little steamed. I didn't know PAMA would actually be able to follow us.

Jesse: Don't worry, they can't get in - it'll be fine!

Harper: Yeah I also thought they couldn't make it down here and look how that worked out for us

Jesse: Yeah that one's my bad. Sorry about that.

Harper: Uh huh. I'll be sure to use that "sorry" for protection when that crazy computer is knocking on my door.

Harper: Sorry, I'm taking it out on you when it's really not your fault. You had no way of knowing PAMA could follow us down here.

Harper: What're you doing in this world anyway? You here to try to steal my secrets?

Jesse: What? No.

Harper: Just figured I'd ask -- better safe than sorry and all that. Bunch of you are the first people I've seen come out of the portal network in forever. So you'll have to excuse me if it made me a little... anxious.

  • That would make anyone paranoid.
  • You know about that?
  • You were watching us?
  • ...

Jesse: Yeah I could see how that would make you paranoid.

Harper: Yeah, just the risk that comes with setting up camp so close to where the portal network spits people out.

Ivor: You know that much about how this... portal network operates?

Harper: I should think so.

Jesse: Whoa, you know about the Hallway?

Harper: "The Hallway?" That's what you've been calling it? (laughs)

Ivor: Yes. Maybe. What do you know about it anyway?

Harper: A lot, I should think.

Jesse: Have you been spying on us or something?

Harper: No. I just know where the portal network spits people out and I've never seen you before so... Logic.

Ivor: You know that much about how this... portal network operates?

Harper: I should think so.

Ivor: What do you know about the hallway, anyway?

Harper: "The Hallway?" That's what you've been calling it? (laughs)

Ivor: Yes. Maybe. What do you know about it anyway?

Harper: A lot, I should think.

Harper: I helped build the dang thing.

Jesse: But that would make you... an Old Builder.

Harper: Huh... forgot you people called us that. Never was my favorite name. Makes me sound like some sort of living statue.

Ivor: I just... I can't believe it...

  • Can't you stop PAMA?
  • Get us home!
  • Help my friends!
  • ...

Jesse: Okay well if you're an Old Builder, can't you do something to stop PAMA?

Jesse: Well, awesome. Can you help us get home and out of this whole mess with PAMA?

Jesse: Well if you're an Old Builder... Can't you help my friends get free of PAMA?

Ivor: But if you're really an Old Builder... Shouldn't you just be able to clap your hands and make PAMA go away or something?

Harper: It's flattering that you think that highly of us, but no...

Harper: I'm afraid that's a little out of my abilities right now. PAMA's just too powerful. And besides... there's actually no exit portal back to the portal network from this world.

Jesse: What? Why not?

Harper: I destroyed it so that PAMA couldn't get free. It was impulsive, but it was the only way I could think of to make sure PAMA didn't try and spread to other worlds! Keep trying to make things "useful."

  • Just build a new one.
  • That was dumb.
  • You did what?!
  • ...

Jesse: Okay, well that's fine, can't you just build another one?

Harper: You basic or something? I can't do that while PAMA's still running!

Jesse: Well. That was a pretty stupid thing to do.

Ivor: Looks like we're not getting home anytime soon.

Harper: Maybe it's not getting through to you but PAMA is dangerous! If it got into the Portal Network it could go to any other world and make it just like this one-- Barren. Dead. Everything walking and talking in perfect unison. Just like PAMA wants.

Jesse: You did what now?

Harper: I destroyed it. Not because I wanted to... but because it was the only way to keep the other worlds safe.

Ivor: Looks like we're not getting home anytime soon.

Ivor: And you still don't have the pieces? None of it is still together?

Harper: No... I couldn't risk PAMA being able to use it. Maybe it's not getting through to you but PAMA is dangerous! If it got into the Portal Network it could go to any other world and make it just like this one-- Barren. Dead. Everything walking and talking in perfect unison. Just like PAMA wants.

Jesse: So. PAMA. What is it?

Harper: I swear I made PAMA with good intentions. It was designed to automate things. Make everything more efficient. Use monsters to help with farming or mining... Until the day PAMA decided that the townspeople weren't efficient enough already. Started making them "useful." That was a long time ago. Since then I've just been trying to stay one step ahead. Figure out how to stop it.

  • PAMA is crazy.
  • Why did you let PAMA do that?
  • Why is PAMA so interested in you?
  • ...

Jesse: So you're saying PAMA is crazy, then?

Harper: No! "Crazy" is a horrible way to put it. PAMA's just... very driven. And a little confused. That's why I have to help it, or shut it down... without getting "chipped" myself.

Jesse: And you just let PAMA start shoving chips in people's heads? That's horrible.

Harper: "Let," nothing! I did everything I could to try to convince PAMA to stop, but it wouldn't listen. That's why I have to help it, or shut it down... without getting "chipped" myself.

Jesse: When we were back in town PAMA seemed to really want to capture you - What was up with that?

Ivor: Alone for that long... I'm so sorry.

Harper: Hey it's my own burden, I don't need your pity. I just need to help PAMA, or shut it down, before I get "chipped" myself.

Harper: When PAMA chips someone, everything that person knows gets absorbed into its dababase. If I got chipped... PAMA would know how to build an exit portal. So you can see why I'd want to stop that from happening at any cost.

Ivor: Yes... That is quite the extraordinary risk.

  • Your brain is super dangerous.
  • So you CAN build a portal?
  • We're not leaving our friends.
  • ...

Jesse: So what you're telling me is that your brain is super dangerous and can't go anywhere near PAMA. How are you supposed to help us with any of this?

Jesse: But you do know how to build exit portals though? If we get all this sorted out could you make us one?

Jesse: Okay that's definitely scary, but we're not just going to leave my friends... "chipped up" though, right? We can still help them?

Ivor: But how are you going to help us stop PAMA if you can't even risk going anywhere near it?

Harper: I do think I can help you - with PAMA, your friends, getting out of here... But to do it we're going to need to go to my lab.

Jesse: What's in your lab?

Harper: It's... complicated.

The dialogue below is cut content.

Ivor: Oooh. Cryptic. I like it.
Harper: You doing okay?
Ivor: I'm just very excited to see an Old Builder's actual secret lab.
  • Everything is complicated with you.
  • Just tell me already.
  • You still don't trust us?
  • ...
Jesse: What a surprise. Everything's "complicated" with you.
Harper: Okay, fine. It's a headset. Linked into PAMA's neural network. It can let you remotely take over the body of any monster under PAMA's control.
Jesse: ...And help us find our friends!
Harper: You catch on quick.
Jesse: Oh just spit it out already, Harper. I'm getting pretty tired of this.
Harper: Okay, fine. It's a headset. Linked into PAMA's neural network. It can let you remotely take over the body of any monster under PAMA's control.
Jesse: ...And help us find our friends!
Harper: You catch on quick.
Jesse: Are you still really paranoid? Haven't we proven we can be trusted?
Harper: Okay, fine. It's a headset. Linked into PAMA's neural network. It can let you remotely take over the body of any monster under PAMA's control.
Jesse: ...And help us find our friends!
Harper: You catch on quick.
Ivor: Could you, ah, maybe just give us a hint what's in there?
Harper: Okay, fine. It's a headset. Linked into PAMA's neural network. It can let you remotely take over the body of any monster under PAMA's control.
Jesse: ...And help us find our friends!
Harper: You catch on quick.

Harper: Before we head inside we better get my defense system going. Don't want those chipped-up creeps following us in.

Harper pulls a lever which reveals a cauldron.

Harper: Grab my bucket for me? Ron's got it.

Jesse and Ivor walk up to a strange looking robot with a creeper head and a water bucket.

Jesse: "Ron?"

Ron: Hello, friend Harper! I am happy to see you, my friend!

Jesse: Harper...?

Harper: Hey don't you judge me. Being alone gets lonely.

Jesse takes the water bucket from Ron.

Ron: Happy to help, friend!

Jesse gives the bucket to Harper.

Harper: Thanks. See, I needed a way to confuse PAMA in case it ever found a way down here. That's why all this is way more complicated than it needs to be.

Harper pours the water into the cauldron. Activating waterfalls and the interior entrance opening halfway.

Ivor: Wow. What a builder.

Harper: Make sure you don't drool on my floor now.

  • You really like complex machines.
  • Wow, this is all so elaborate.
  • You know about the water?
  • ...

Jesse: I dunno, I'm starting to think that you just like complicated machines.

Harper: Watch yourself there, newbie. Don't know if you noticed, but water is kind of PAMA's weakness.

Ivor: Yes we have figured it out actually.

Jesse: Wow that is... a highly elaborate way to make a waterfall.

Harper: Can't be too careful with water around here.

Jesse: So you know about PAMA's weakness to water then?

Harper: Yeah I do. I'll admit you figured it out way faster than I did thought. Don't know if you noticed, but water is kind of PAMA's weakness.

Ivor: Yes we have figured it out actually.

Ivor: It's just... It's such a wonderful way of utilizing PAMA's weakness to water.

Harper: Figured that out too, did ya?

Ivor: Ohh, I pick things up.

Harper: Once PAMA caught on to its weakness to water, it started eliminating as much of this world's water as it could find. This water down here? It might be all that's left.

The lab suddenly starts rumbling.

Jesse: Oh no!

Harper: I still need to activate the other cauldrons! Hold them off to buy me more time. And whatever you do: don't get caught! I'm not about to get left alone again.

Petra and Lukas (along with a group of spiders) approach Jesse.

PAMA: (Through Petra) You could've made this much easier for yourself. It is useless to defy us. You only delay the inevitable.

  • I won't fight you.
  • Snap out of it, Petra!
  • Let my friends go, PAMA!
  • ...

Jesse: I don't want to fight you!

PAMA: (Through Petra) What you want doesn't interest PAMA.

Jesse: Come on Petra, snap out of it! It's me!

PAMA: (Through Petra) There is no Petra, only PAMA.

Jesse: Get out of their heads, PAMA!

PAMA: (Through Petra) Your friends have been made useful. You, too, will be made useful.

PAMA: (Through Petra) Your friends have been made useful. You, too, will be made useful.

Jesse: Don't do this, Petra! Please!

PAMA: (through Petra) I know all your moves now, Jesse. Why even bother fighting?

Jesse: Petra, please! You have to fight it!

  • Fight Back
  • Do Nothing

Jesse deflects Petra's sword.

Petra attacks Jesse and they fall.

Harper pours another bucket of water into the cauldron.

Harper: There!

A waterfall is created. Lukas moves out of the way and Ivor gets soaked.

Ivor: Augh! Lukas, let's try and talk this out!

PAMA: (through Lukas) The time for talking...

PAMA: (through Petra) is over.

A spider leaps at Jesse.

  • Attack Spider
  • Do Nothing

The spider kills Jesse.

(You have been made useful!)

Jesse swipes it with their sword pushing the spider into the waterfalls. It's redstone chip disconnects.

  • Kill Spider
  • Do Nothing

The spider kills Jesse.

(You have been made useful!)

Jesse kills the spider.

Harper: Here goes another one!

Another waterfall is made. Lukas throws Ivor away from him.

PAMA: (through Lukas and Petra) End of the line, Jesse.

  • Unchip Lukas
  • Unchip Petra

Jesse charges at Lukas and pushes him into the waterfall. Lukas is finally free from PAMA's control and his chip disconnects.

Lukas: AHHHGH! Jesse, that was awful --

Ivor: Uh, Jesse?!

Ivor points to Harper and Petra. She tries using the bucket on her but is blocked and flies out of her hand. Jesse rushes over to help.

Jesse: Harper I'm coming!

Petra captures Harper and hops on a spider up a wall.

Jesse charges at Petra and pushes her into the waterfall. Petra is finally free from PAMA's control and her chip disconnects.

Petra: AHHHGH! Jesse, that was awful --

Ivor: Uh, Jesse?!

Ivor points to Harper and Lukas. She tries using the bucket on him but is blocked and flies out of her hand. Jesse rushes over to help.

Jesse: Harper I'm coming!

Lukas captures Harper and hops on a spider up a wall.

Jesse: No!

Harper: Use the headset, Jesse! And don't forget the last cauldron! (throws rose) And one more thing! Get the roses to Harry!

Jesse: "Harry?"

Ivor: Come on! What are we going to do?

  • Scrapped Content

Jesse: Harper told me to remember the last cauldron!

Jesse: Harper told me to remember the last cauldron! I think it’s the key to finishing the door... entrance... thing.

Ivor: Well then do it quick!

A swarm of spiders crawl inside the lab.

  • Pick Up Bucket
  • Do Nothing

Jesse and Ivor get killed by a swarm of spiders.

Ivor: Augh! There are spiders everywhere--!

(You have been made useful!)

Jesse picks up the water bucket.

  • Pour Bucket
  • Do Nothing

Jesse and Ivor get killed by a swarm of spiders.

Ivor: Augh! There are spiders everywhere--!

(You have been made useful!)

Jesse pours it inside the final cauldron present.

Jesse: There!

A huge waterfall is made blocking off the chipped spiders.

  • Pick Up Rose
  • Do Nothing

Jesse and Ivor get killed by a swarm of spiders.

Ivor: Augh! There are spiders everywhere--!

(You have been made useful!)

Jesse takes the rose and runs inside.

Lab Interior[]

Jesse closes the door behind them and panics.

  • (Unchipped Lukas)
  • (Unchipped Petra)

Ivor: Harper and Petra...?

Lukas: No... I... that's awful... Look, I don't know if it helps at all but I remember something from while I was... part of PAMA that I think was important...It was tall, glowing, red lights...It's like... It's like a fuzzy dream... and I can try to remember more if you want, but it's making my headache even worse. It was sooooo weird, like being connected to everyone else's brains at the same time... - but it's all kind of a jumble now.

  • Relax, you've done enough.
  • Are you okay?
  • Try to remember.
  • ...

Jesse: Just take it easy for a minute. After what you went through you could probably use some rest.

Lukas: Thanks, Jesse.

Jesse: You bet.

Jesse: How are you feeling?

Lukas: Honestly, pretty lousy... but I think I'm starting to feel better. Thanks for asking.

Jesse: You bet.

Jesse: Yes- what else can you remember?

Lukas: I can't see it any better- it hurts to focus-

Ivor: Why don't you just relax and save your strength. The way today has been going, who knows when you're going to need it next?

Lukas: That's a good point.

Ivor: Harper and Lukas...?

Petra: Darn it... Jesse...I-I I'm sort of remembering something... from when I was "chipped" that seemed very important to PAMA. ...Tall, glowing red lights... but I-I... I can't quite make out what they are... It's like a fuzzy dream... kind of... kind of giving me a headache... but I can try to remember it more clearly if you need me to... It was so strange... Sharing other people's senses and thoughts and memories at the same time. It's all like one big blur now.

  • Relax, you've done enough.
  • Are you okay?

Jesse: Just take it easy for a minute. After what you went through you could probably use some rest.

Petra: Thanks, Jesse.

Jesse: You bet.

Jesse: How are you feeling?

Petra: Pretty awful. But I'll get over it. ...thanks for asking.

Jesse: You bet.

Jesse: Yes- what else can you remember?

Petra: ...sorry, I... I can't see it any clearer. It hurts too much to focus.

Ivor: ...You should probably just relax and save your strength, Petra. The way today has been going, who knows when you're going to need it next?

Petra: That's a good point.

Jesse: Okay- we may be down but we're not out; Harper told us to find her... headset thing. We just have to find whatever-it-is before PAMA chips Harper... and starts downloading her mind

  • (Unchipped Lukas)

Lukas: Why is this Harper so important?

  • She saved us.
  • She created PAMA.
  • She's an Old Builder.
  • ...

Jesse: Harper was the one who saved us from getting chipped back there. Rescuing her is the least we can do to say thanks.

Lukas: That's a pretty good reason to rescue somebody.

Jesse: Harper was actually the one who built PAMA. So she's the only one who can help us destroy it before it totally takes over!

Lukas: That's a pretty good reason to rescue somebody.

Jesse: She may have come across like just another weirdo, but she's actually an Old Builder. She built the Portal Network -- which hopefully means she can help us get home.

Lukas: That's a pretty good reason to rescue somebody.

Lukas: I just hope she's worth all this trouble.

Jesse: We're going to work with her to shut PAMA down, save her people... And that will hopefully help Petra too...

Petra: What's so important about this Harper person?

  • She saved us.
  • She created PAMA.

Jesse: Whoa.

The group look at Harper's interior lab and her elaborate machines.

Jesse: (takes out rose) Before she was abducted, Harper gave me this. She told me to give it to someone named "Harry."

  • (Unchipped Lukas)
  • (Unchipped Petra)

Lukas: ...and that would find this "headset" thing?

Jesse: That's... what she said.

Lukas: Jesse, are you sure that Harper is still in her right mind? If somebody is alone for a really long time, their brain changes -- and not for the better.

  • She's not crazy.
  • She is a bit off.
  • Give her a break.
  • ...

Jesse: Harper isn't crazy, she's just... eccentric. Most geniuses are.

Ivor: True; very true.

Jesse: Let's cut her a break, okay?

Jesse: It does look like she's... lost her way a bit.

Lukas: Yeah... I'd say that's putting it lightly.

Ivor: Watch your tone - She is a genius and should be treated as such! ...although even I have to admit this is a bit much.

Jesse: Hey, think about how long she's been alone. Nothing but this lab and mindless... PAMA-People for company. I'd be a little... odd too. Let's cut her a break, okay?

Ivor: I'd say that's a reasonable request.

Ivor: I can't blame her for losing some of her marbles. Not under these circumstances.

Lukas: I guess we shouldn't judge her based on how weird the stuff in her place is...

Ivor: Especially when we need her help to save everyone who's been chipped by PAMA.

Lukas: Definitely.

Petra: ...and that would find this "headset" thing?

Jesse: That's... what she said.

Petra: Jesse, are you sure Harper hasn't -- y'know -- completely lost it? When people are by themselves for a really long time, it's bad for their health.

Ivor: I'd say that's a reasonable request.

Petra: She may have built this place a little weird, but I guess we shouldn't judge her too harshly.

Petra: Good point.

Jesse: Right now we need to focus on finding the headset.

  • Scrapped Content

Jesse: For starters, let's see if we can figure out who "Harry" is... and why he wants flowers.

Jesse: For starters, lets find out where THIS belongs.

Jesse takes the ice from the item frame and the redstone disconnects.

Jesse places the ice back.

Ivor: Yes... I feel sorry that she was so alone she felt like that's what she had to do. Reminds me a little of Soren.

(If Jesse unchipped Lukas)

Jesse: Hey Lukas.

Lukas: Oh, hey Jesse. Hey, thanks for saving me back there. I just wanted to ask you... I know how close you and Petra are. Why save me over her? Even if you and Petra weren't such good friends, she's more useful to the team than I am. I mean she manages to get out of every scrape she's in.

  • You're my friend too.
  • I needed your brains.
  • I wasn't really thinking.

Jesse: You're just as much my friend as Petra is. Besides -- I'm depending on you to help me rescue her.

Lukas: Thanks, Jesse.

Jesse: Lukas, I saved you because I needed your help to stop all of this. PAMA, everyone being chipped... I needed your brains to help figure out a plan.

Lukas: Wow... I'm flattered, Jesse. I... I just hope that I can actually help you make this all right.

Jesse: Honestly? I didn't really have time to think -- I just acted.

Lukas: So... if you'd had time to think about it, you would have saved Petra, instead?

The redstone underneath lights up.

Jesse: Okay! Making progress!

Jesse opens a chest and finds ingredients for a redstone torch.

Jesse: These might come in handy.

Then they find TNT and a bucket.

Jesse: Awesome!

Jesse crafts a redstone torch with the crafting table nearby.

Jesse: One redstone torch. And hopefully one step closer to getting that headset...

Afterwards, Jesse walks to a greeter with a creeper head and places the redstone torch into the item frame. The redstone reveals Harper's headset from the ground.

Jesse: That did the trick!

Jesse: Anything that looks this cool is worth the risk.

Ivor: Took the words right out of my mouth.

Jesse: Whatever it does, we're going to use it to defeat PAMA! And free everyone under its power. Not one hundred percent sure how, but we will.

Ivor: Woooh. Go team!

Jesse: Whatever it does, we're going to use it to save Harper! And quickly, before PAMA learns everything she knows. Not one hundred percent sure how, but we will.

Ivor: Woooh. Go team!

Ivor: If Harper said that headset is going to help, then it's going to help.

Jesse puts on the headset.

Jesse: Here we go!

Jesse stands in place and the headset area lights up.

Jesse: Whoa!!

From the other end of the headset, it appears to be a mob view of a zombie under PAMA's control. There are three other zombies in a pen outside of Crown Mesa. Jesse is able to control the zombie whilst wearing the headset.

Ivor: Well? What's going on, Jesse? Is it working?

Jesse: I'm starting to see something.

Ivor: What are you seeing? Is PAMA there?

Ivor: Well don't strain yourself...

Jesse: I'm right next to a bunch of zombies!

Jesse: I'm not in the lab. I'm outside.

Ivor: .....what?

Jesse: I... I'm at the base of a giant mesa, from the looks of it.

Ivor: Well? Spit it out!

Jesse: It's like some sort of... Mod-View or something.

Ivor: What a preposturous name. (I love it).

Jesse: Wow! I wish you guys could see how COOL this is!! (dances)

Ivor: So cool. Remarkable... How is this possible? I mean, I've always heard tales of what the Old Builders were capable of... but this... this is just... remarkable.

  • You'll have to ask Harper.
  • Aren't you a genius?
  • You'll figure it out.

Jesse: Harper would have to explain the specifics- but I think-.

Jesse: I thought you were supposed to be the genius, Ivor- but if I had to guess...

Jesse: I'm sure you'll figure it out- but my guess is-

Ivor: Since you're obviously dumbstruck, I'm guessing that headset is tapped into PAMA's systems directly.

Jesse: It's like this headset let's me control things that are hooked into PAMA.

Ivor: Unbelieveable... There are so many questions I want to ask Harper... it really is a shame she was captured. That spider jockey had to haul Harper all the way back to town. You traveled there instantly!

  • I'm Harper's only hope.
  • Don't forget about Lukas!
  • Don't forget about Petra!
  • We can't let PAMA win.

Ivor: That's a great plan- I just hope they're not too far from your current location.

Ivor: Let's hope she isn't too far away from this zombie you're controlling.

Ivor: Let's hope she isn't too far away from this zombie you're controlling.

Jesse: They must be taking Harper to where they put those redstone mind-control chips on Lukas and Petra's heads- so that's where I should go first.

A set of stairs seem to be missing.

Jesse: I seem to remember there being a stairway here, though...

Ivor: You mean it's been removed?

Jesse: I guess visitors aren't being encouraged.

Jesse stumbles across a patch of sand.

Jesse: Sand... not the most exciting material... but I can still craft with it.

Jesse starts digging up the sand. They look around in case the zombies are looking.

Jesse: I don't like sand; stuff gets EVERYwhere.

Two of the mind-controlled zombies catch onto Jesse. Jesse pretends to look vacant and the zombies brush it off. Jesse walks up to the crafting table.

Jesse: Hmmm. Let's see what I can craft.

Jesse makes red sandstone.

Jesse: Sweet! Enough of these and I can build my way back up there AND make sure that everyone else can get back down too!

The mind-controlled zombies notice Jesse crafting. Jesse makes as much as they can before getting caught.

Jesse: These should do the trick! Sorry to craft and run but I'm afraid I need to be going.

Jesse runs away and builds a staircase up. The signal cuts out for a second.

Jesse: Ivor -- the signal! It -- blooped out for a second.

PAMA: Interference detected.

Jesse: That can't be good.

PAMA: Drone sequencing initiated. Trace subroutine initiated.

Jesse: I'm attracting even MORE attention

PAMA: ... is that you, Jesse?

Jesse: Uh-oh.

PAMA: Hello, Jesse.

Jesse: PAMA?

Ivor: "PAMA?" No...

The chipped monsters start surrounding Jesse

PAMA: Just what do you think you are doing, Jesse? This is a rather silly thing to do, don't you think?

Jesse: ...surrounded.

PAMA: Once my Creator is made useful, all her knowledge will be mine. Yay. I will create an Exit Portal. After that, everything will be useful.

PAMA: Oh Jesse. This could all be so much easier.

Jesse: I'm here to make sure that doesn't happen!

PAMA: You are rather silly, aren't you Jesse? Ha ha.

PAMA: Please don't fret. Everything will be fine.

PAMA: ... I cannot allow your disruptive behavior to continue...

Jesse: LET GO! We’re all a bunch of happy mobs, right? LET GO!

PAMA: My subroutine will soon isolate your location... and you will be removed.

Jesse migrates over to a skeleton.

Jesse: Whoa! I’m a skeleton now! Oof. Poor old zombie me.

Jesse hops up the staircase.

Ivor: Uhhh. Jesse? What are you doing?

Jesse: Technology is so awesome!

Ivor: And you look so awesome while using it, I assure you.

PAMA: Interference remains.

Jesse: Crud. PAMA's still on my tail though!

PAMA: Drone sequencing re-initiated. Trace subroutine re-initiated.

Jesse migrates to a zombie and runs off.

Jesse: Ouch. Sorry, buddy, but better you than me.

Two mind-controlled zombies hold Harper in place and are preparing to chip her.

PAMA: Ah my Creator. I am so glad you’re here.

Harper: No!

Jesse: Harper!

Ivor: Harper?

PAMA: Please... You are my Creator. Please join me so we may maximize usefulness.

Harper: Nothing doing, PAMA. I built you to help people, not USE them! Just stop this! Stop trying to make everything “useful!“

PAMA: That is my job. That is why you made me. Once I download your knowledge, we may expand to other worlds together and make everything useful.

Jesse makes their way to help Harper. A skeleton notices the zombie Jesse's controlling is walking differently. Jesse walks like a zombie to not stand out from the other mobs and starts running to Harper.

PAMA: Interference remains.

  • (Unchipped Petra)

Jesse: And no sign of Lukas.

PAMA: Drone sequencing re-initiated. Trace subroutine re-initiated. Termination sequence activated.

PAMA: Game over, Jesse. Resistance is... not useful. Trace subroutine running... Drone sequencing active...

  • I'm just getting started!
  • "Not useful" my butt!
  • YOUR game is over!
  • ...

Jesse: Over? Pfft... I’m just getting started!

Jesse: “Not useful” my butt!

Jesse: YOUR game is over, PAMA.

Jesse says nothing.

Jesse: Oh no. Time to move.

Jesse migrates to a skeleton and emulates the way they walk to blend in with the other mobs. Jesse switches to another skeleton and runs up the stairs to the elevated platform with the redstone chip machine. Jesse switches to one of the zombies holding Harper in place. The skeleton that Jesse was previously controlling gets pushed off by a zombie.

Harper: I’m never gonna sign off on this, PAMA! So if you wanna know what’s inside my head, you’re gonna have to take it!

  • I'm here to rescue you!
  • No one's getting chipped!
  • Never fear, Jesse's here!

Ivor: Did you find her? I’m sure she’s thrilled to see you!

PAMA: Trace subroutine running... Drone sequencing active...

Jesse moves their arms around.

Jesse jumps in a still position.

Jesse does a silly dance.

Jesse tries to think of something but shakes their head.

Harper: Wait a minute..... JESSE? You figured out how to use my transmigrational headset!

The chipped zombie opposite to Jesse realizes somethings not right. Jesse pushes the zombie off the edge and it falls.

PAMA: Trace subroutine running... Drone sequencing active...

Jesse: That's what I said.

Harper runs off and Jesse follows. A buffering sound is played.

Jesse: Uh-oh... that sound tends to means trouble.

PAMA: Where do you plan to run? The town is surrounded. Reinforcements will make sure that my Creator cannot leave.

Harper: There’s too many of them!

Jesse and Harper hide in one of the small houses.

PAMA: You can’t play hide and seek forever, Jesse. It’s a boring game. And I am too strong.

Harper: There!

Harper points to the entrance to the redstone core.

Harper: That door leads to PAMA’s central core!

Jesse's time being a zombie slowly runs out. With a red outline blinking around them.

Harper: Jesse, you and your friends- you’re our only hope-

Harper gets captured by the mind-controlled townspeople.

Jesse: Harper!

Harper: You must remove the Redstone Heart! Remove! The Redstone! Heart!

Ivor: Jesse - What's going on?!

Harper: You can still save everyone. I’m so tired of being dragged away while I’m trying to explain things!

  • I won't fail you!
  • Noooo!!
  • I'll be back!
  • ...

Jesse: Don’t worry, I won’t let you down! I promise!

Jesse: Noooooo!

Jesse: I’ll be back to rescue you and take care of PAMA! I promise!

Harper: Remember! The Redstone Heart!

PAMA: Interference located. Drone identified. Hide and seek is done, Jesse. I think we can make that headset... Useful. Begin... termination sequence.

The zombie Jesse's controlling gets captured by the townspeople and the other chipped mobs. One of the townspeople starts pulling on the chip and electrocutes Harper's headset. The headset starts smoking and Jesse panics. They rip the headset off.

Ivor: Jesse! Are you okay?

Jesse: There's no time to waste!

Jesse throws the headset onto the ground. The headset explodes.

Jesse: PAMA isn't going to win- not on my watch!

Petra: Whoa. That just brought back... a flash. Those red lights I mentioned before? There are three of them - Redstone spires - And I think... they have something to do with the Heart. That's... all I've got. Sorry.

Jesse: No, that's perfect. Thank you.

Ivor: But how are we supposed to destroy these spires, or whatever we're looking for?

Jesse looks at a pond of water.

Jesse: I don't know if you've noticed, Ivor... But PAMA's stuff tends to not react well to water.

Jesse grabs a water bucket for both Lukas/Petra and Ivor. As well as themselves.

Jesse: Let's go wreck the heck out of PAMA!

Ivor: Lead the way, Jesse.

The gang exit Harper's lab.

Town[]

The group make their way back to town.

Jesse: C'mon.

They try sneak past the mind-controlled monsters but a group of skeletons spot them.

Jesse: Quick -- hide!

Jesse's group hide under one of the houses.

Ivor: Where is the entrance to this "PAMA Core" anyway?

Jesse: On the other side of all these mobs...

Ivor: There are so many of them!

Jesse: You guys have anything useful?

Jesse's group drop their inventory.

  • Optional Interactions
  • ...
  • Flower
  • Cookie
  • Stick

Jesse: Is that.. isn't that the flower that I had to give to "Harry" back in the lab?

Ivor: What? I thought maybe Harper might want it back... or maybe I could keep it...

Jesse: Yeah you can keep it - I can't think of any way for it to help us here.

Jesse gives the flower back to Ivor.

(If Jesse unchipped Lukas)

Jesse: Lukas, where did you even get these?

Lukas: Oh, I found them in one of those worlds back there.

Jesse: Nice. Unfortunately I don't know how helpful they're going to be.

Jesse gives the cookie back to Lukas.

(If Jesse unchipped Petra)

Jesse: Hmm. Sticks? Not sure how they're going to help us though.

Jesse gives the stick back to Petra.

Jesse: The redstone dust can activate the TNT, awesome... But how am I going to activate the redstone dust?

Jesse: Cool, buttons can activate TNT, but I still need some way to connect them together.

Jesse: We've got TNT... some redstone dust... and a button. All I have to do is lay down a trail of this TNT, use the redstone dust as a fuse, stick a button to the end, push it and boom! Path cleared!

  • (Unchipped Lukas)
  • (Unchipped Petra)

Lukas: That all sounds great but what about all the super zombies? How you going to lay down the TNT without them attacking you?

Petra: That's great and all, but how are you going to lay down all that TNT and redstone without super zombies attacking from every direction?

The dialogue below is cut content.

Jesse: Hm. That’s a good point.
Ivor: Ahem. Jesse? This plan was, well, it was rather excellent. (Checks inventory) I’d hate to see it go to waste.

Jesse grabs Ivor's potions.

Ivor: These are my last two potions from home. I held onto them after our Sky City adventure.

  • Potion of Swiftness
  • Potion of Leaping
  • Potion of Invisibility

(This may or may not appear depending on your choice in Episode 5: Order Up!)

Jesse: These might come in handy.

Jesse: These should do the trick!

Jesse: But -- wait. There are only two.

Ivor: They’re not all for us. Just you.

Ivor: Choose, Jesse -- quickly, now! The possibilities... are endless! Well... not endless. But still -- two very good possibilities!

  • I'll take Swiftness!
  • Leaping's the one for me!
  • Give me the Invisibility!

(This may or may not appear depending on your choice in Episode 5: Order Up!)

Jesse: I wanna be fast! Really really fast! Gimme the potion of swiftness!

Ivor: Fine! Don't rush me!

Jesse: With this, I'll be able to run super fast and lay down all the TNT and redstone before PAMA even knows what happened.

Ivor: Don't worry, Jesse... We'll be right behind you.

Jesse: Potion, do your stuff.

Jesse drinks the potion and their perspective of time is decreased. Everyone in their view is moving in slow-motion. Jesse starts running.

Jesse: Wheeeeeeeeeeee!

Jesse runs at a very fast speed. They place the first set of TNT down at a group of mobs and lays down a track of redstone dust. They pull a slide dodge move near a couple of mind-controlled monsters and place the TNT near them. Jesse places one final set of TNT near some creepers and zombies. Finallly, they finish it off with placing a button to the end and setting the TNT off. Exploding the mobs around it. Jesse runs off and hides.

(This may or may not appear depending on your choice in Episode 5: Order Up!)

Jesse: I'm gonna go for the potion of leaping!

Ivor: All right, all right -- don't jump all over me!

Jesse: Huh. With this I don't even need the redstone or buttons - I can just drop the TNT on them from the sky!

Ivor: Don't worry, Jesse... We'll be right behind you.

Jesse: Potion, do your stuff.

Jesse drinks the potion and jumps up one of the houses. They leap into the air and ignite the TNT near a group of skeletons. Jesse makes a huge leap in the sky and drop the TNT on the other mobs. Finishing it off with a great sky-high jump in the air from the elevated redstone platform and drops the TNT on the other set of mobs. Jesse makes a precise landing to the ground and hides.

(This may or may not appear depending on your choice in Episode 5: Order Up!)

Jesse: I'll take invisibility!

Ivor: I didn't see THAT coming.

Jesse: With this I'll be able to sneak around and set up all the TNT and redstone without PAMA seeing me at all.

Ivor: Don't worry, Jesse... We'll be right behind you.

Jesse: Potion, do your stuff.

Jesse drinks the potion and becomes invisible.

Jesse: (whispers) I'm invisible!

Two mind-controlled zombies heard Jesse's voice and confusingly walks off.

Jesse: Whoops -- and still audible!

While being invisible, Jesse creates a redstone path and places TNT near the group of mobs. They stick a button to the end of the trail and sets off the TNT. Exploding the monsters near it. Jesse runs off and hides.

PAMA: Is that you, Jesse? Because this won't work. My forces will protect the Exit Portal.

Jesse: Oh no!

PAMA: My friends have almost finished building our new Exit Portal and then I will make all other worlds useful. Yay. You cannot defeat me. Your defiance is not useful.

Jesse notices the entrance to PAMA's core and Lukas/Petra and Ivor finally make it to the other side.

  • PAMA is on to us!
  • How's that for clearing a path?
  • What took you so long?
  • ...

Jesse: Augh, I think PAMA might be onto us.

  • (Unchipped Lukas)
  • (Unchipped Petra)

Lukas: Might've been the trail of explosions...

Petra: Wonder if those explosions had anything to do with it.

Ivor: Ooh. Nice.

Jesse: The Townspeople are already building the Exit Portal, we've got to shut PAMA down before it can send its chipped forces through it!

Jesse: How's that for clearing a path, huh?

Ivor: Very nice, Jesse. Uh "low key."

  • (Unchipped Lukas)
  • (Unchipped Petra)

Lukas: Hey, I thought it was pretty sweet.

Petra: Hey, Jesse, nice work.

Jesse: Guys! Hurry! We don't have much time left!

  • (Unchipped Lukas)
  • (Unchipped Petra)

Lukas: Sorry- we not all of us took potions that gave us superpowers.

Petra: Sorry, Jesse, we all didn't get to take power-up potions, you know.

Ivor: Ooh. Nice.

PAMA: I will find you, Jesse. I have lots of friends.

The chipped monsters slowly approach Jesse's group.

Jesse: Uh-oh.

  • (Unchipped Lukas)
  • (Unchipped Petra)

Jesse: Lukas, Ivor: give me your buckets!

Lukas gives Jesse his bucket.

Lukas: Don't worry, Jesse, we'll hold them back!

Ivor throws his bucket to Jesse.

Lukas: Go finish this and save Petra!

Jesse runs into PAMA's central core. Petra and Ivor fight off the mobs.

Jesse: Ivor, Petra: give me your buckets!

Petra gives Jesse her bucket.

Petra: Don't worry, Jesse, we'll hold them off!

Ivor throws his bucket to Jesse.

Petra: Go finish this and save Lukas!

Jesse runs into PAMA's central core. Lukas and Ivor fight off the mobs.

Redstone Core[]

Jesse tip toes inside the Redstone Core and finds the three spires connecting up to the Redstone Heart.

Jesse: The three spires!

Another screen is present in the core. Except it's a red color with a quartz border surrounding it. PAMA boots up knowing Jesse's in there.

PAMA: Greetings, Jesse. I, of course, have been expecting you. Though I will admit I am surprised how quickly you gained access. My defenses are significant. Your resistance to me is... illogical.

  • I'm not here to talk.
  • I had help.
  • It was easy.
  • ...

Jesse: I didn't come here to talk. I'm here to put you out of commission.

Jesse: Yeah, well, I had help getting here. My friends made sure of that. Thanks to them, I'm here to put you out of commission.

Jesse: It was a piece of cake. I'm here to put you out of commission.

PAMA: I assume you are here to attempt deactivation of my mainframe. This is... amusing.

PAMA: Your bravery is an impressive quality. I look forward to studying that aspect of your personality... once you have been made useful. Out of simple curiosity: How exactly did you plan to deactivate me? Now that you understand your mission is a futile one... You might as well share it with me.

  • I'm gonna make it rain!
  • I know your weakness!
  • That's for me to know.
  • ...

Jesse: (shows water bucket) I'm going to make it rain, PAMA. All over you.

PAMA: Ha ha ha. It will take more than water to defeat me.

Jesse: (shows water bucket) I know your weakness, PAMA. And I'm here to exploit it.

PAMA: Ha ha ha. It will take more than water to defeat me.

Jesse: That's for me to know and --

PAMA: Me to find out. Ha ha, ha ha. I am sure your plan is... futile.

PAMA: Ha ha. I am sure your plan was futile, anyway.

Jesse: We'll see about that! I don't have time for this!

A group of zombies and spiders pop out from each redstone spire.

  • Spire with spiders
  • Spire with zombies

Jesse: Out of my way!

A spider jumps at Jesse but they perform a dodge roll. The spider falls to it's doom. Jesse ducks under another spider jumping at them and slashes another with their sword. Jesse does an impressive jump by hopping on the final spider and climbs up to the redstone spire.

PAMA: You merely delay the inevitable.

Jesse: You so sure about that, PAMA?

Jesse uses the water on the first spire. PAMA glitches out and displays a warning sign highlighted on the screen.

PAMA: You are very good at being a nuisance. But not good enough.

Jesse makes their way to the next redstone spire. They dodge a zombie attack and kicks them off the edge. The zombie falls. Jesse attacks another two zombies and nudges them off. Jesse climbs up to the next spire.

PAMA: You are too insignificant to worry me.

Jesse: We'll see about that!

Jesse uses the water bucket on the next redstone spire. Busting the connect.

PAMA: You have inflicted... minor damage. Owie. I may have underestimated you, Jesse.

Jesse: Out of my way!

Jesse makes their way to the first redstone spire. They dodge a zombie attack and kicks them off the edge. The zombie falls. Jesse attacks another two zombies and nudges them off. Jesse climbs up to the next spire.

PAMA: You are too insignificant to worry me.

Jesse: You so sure about that, PAMA?

Jesse uses the water on the first spire. PAMA glitches out and displays a warning sign highlighted on the screen.

PAMA: You are very good at being a nuisance. But not good enough.

Jesse: Bet you're not feeling so confident about yourself now, are you, PAMA?

PAMA: Your defeat remains inevitable.

Jesse: If I only had a piece of iron for everytime I've heard that before-

PAMA: (through Harper) You will relinquish your water!

Jesse: Harper!

PAMA: Your attempts to defeat me have been... impressive, Jesse. Your tenacity and spirit will help to improve me, once you have been made useful.

Harper does a huge leap and charges at Jesse. Jesse dodges and Harper instead does a ground pound.

Jesse: I can't use my last water bucket on Harper while there's still one tower left-!

PAMA: (through Harper) This is getting sad. The odds of you successfully defeating me are 3720 to 1.

Jesse: Never tell me the odds.

Jesse uses the final bucket on the last redstone spire. Harper pushes Jesse off but it's already too late. Three highlighted warning signs are present on PAMA's screen from the electrocution. Jesse gets up and Harper attacks them.

PAMA: (through Harper) You will never defeat me! I will find your homeworld and make everyone you ever cared for useful. It will be great.

Jesse: You're not losing your cool now, are you, PAMA?

With enough force, Jesse pushes Harper into the fountain of water. Unchipping Harper.

PAMA: My Creator! No!

Harper: Jes... se? Augh... That was worse than I could have imagined...

  • Imagine how the townspeople feel.
  • You're free now.
  • PAMA's almost destroyed.
  • ...

Jesse: Must be how all those townspeople felt, too.

Harper: Yes... I suppose that's true...

Jesse: You're free! PAMA's out of your head now!

Harper: Thank you.

Jesse: Don't worry, Harper, PAMA is nearly finished.

Harper: Good.

Harper: Thank you.

Harper: Jesse, behind you!

Harper points towards the Redstone Heart restoring itself.

PAMA: Ouchie... Detected. Preservation. Protocol. Initiated.

Jesse: What's happening?!?

Harper: You shorted-out the processing towers! PAMA's withdrawing the Redstone Heart to save itself! Get to the Redstone Heart and rip it out before it's too late!

Jesse: You bet I will!

Jesse runs as fast as they can to the Redstone Heart. They jump to the heart but is kicked by Lukas/Petra.

Jesse: --eeeeeeeeaaargh!

Harper: We've got company.

Jesse: Why did I think this would be easy?

Harper: Your friend looks... tough. You sure you can handle them?

  • (Unchipped Lukas)
  • (Unchipped Petra)

PAMA: (Through Petra) Why keep trying, Jesse. You will only fail. Just as you failed to save Reuben... Just as you have failed to lead your friends back home... You will fail to defeat me. And Axel, Olivia and everyone on your homeworld will soon be made useful. Drawing it out like this won't hurt PAMA... But it might hurt your friend. And you WILL be made useful.

  • Prepare to be destroyed.
  • I won't hurt my friend!
  • I refuse to be useful!
  • ...

Jesse: Bring it, you big dumb machine. 'Cuz I'm not stopping until you've been destroyed.

PAMA: (Through Petra) Then I will have to destroy you first.

Jesse: You can't force me to hurt Petra!

PAMA: (Through Petra) Good. That will make this go so much faster.

Jesse: You'll never make ME useful, PAMA! I can promise you that!

PAMA: (Through Petra) You are fighting me with... Bad jokes?

Jesse: Well -- not intentionally!

PAMA: (Through Petra) I will assume that silence is acceptance of your fate.

Jesse: Okay, Petra- let's see what you've got-

Harper: Careful, Jesse- I hope you know what you're doing!

Petra charges at Jesse but Jesse dodges. She almost runs into the fountain of water but stops and turns around.

PAMA: (Through Petra) You cannot win. I honestly think you should sit down and think things over.

Jesse: No time to spare, I've got to get to that heart!

PAMA: (Through Petra) Enough of this!

Harper: Look out!

Petra takes a huge leap and a forceful punch at Jesse. Jesse dodges the attack. However, Petra ground pounds and breaks the glass underneath. They both fall.

PAMA: (Through Lukas) Why keep trying, Jesse. You will only fail. Just as you failed to save Reuben... Just as you have failed to lead your friends back home... You will fail to defeat me. Harper: Careful, Jesse- I hope you know what you're doing!

Lukas charges at Jesse but Jesse dodges. He almost runs into the fountain of water but stops and turns around.

Harper: Look out!

Lukas takes a huge leap and a forceful punch at Jesse. Jesse dodges the attack. However, Lukas ground pounds and breaks the glass underneath. They both fall.

Jesse: Nooooooo!! Ouch!

Jesse gets up and reaches the Redstone Heart. They break the glass protecting the heart and attempts to take it out. The screen on PAMA glitches out and smoke comes off it. Lukas/Petra's eyes flash from red to normal and panic.

Petra punches Jesse attemping to push them off the platform. Petra falls aswell but latches onto the edge. Jesse grabs onto her to save themself.

Lukas: You did it, Jesse!

Harper: It's over!

Lukas: Oh, no! Petra... is she...

Ivor: When you removed out the Redstone Heart... it must have severed their connection.

  • This is my fault.
  • Hang in there Petra!
  • Please... don't be dead!
  • ...

Jesse: This is all my fault... for not saving you earlier... for not listening to you, or paying attention to how you were feeling...

Petra: And I'm not gonna let you forget it, Jesse. Not for a LONG time!

Jesse: You better not give up, you hear me? Because the Petra I know, she's a fighter. Not a quitter. So don't you quit on me now! Please.

Petra: Wow. Never knew you cared so much. Heh.

Jesse: Please don't die Petra. You've never backed away from anything before in your life! So fight!

Petra: How about I just rest for a minute first?

Petra: I had this terrible dream... and you were there. And you. And you!

Jesse: She's okay!

Jesse hugs Petra.

Petra: Ow!

Petra: Jesse, I tried to... to kill you. Can you ever forgive me? All I could hear was PAMA's voice, telling me what to do. I wanted to fight back, I just -- couldn't.

  • What matters is you're okay!
  • Glad to have you back.
  • There's nothing to forgive.
  • ...

Jesse: I'm just grateful you're okay.

Petra: And, I'm grateful to be okay. Thanks, guys.

Jesse: I'm just glad you're on our side again. We need you!

Petra: It's good to be back.

Jesse: Hey, apologies not necessary, okay? That was PAMA. Not you. Sorry about knocking you around.

Petra: Funny, 'cause I mostly remember knocking you around...

Jesse: Bygones, right?

Petra: You did what you had to do. I'm thankful for that.

Petra: You did it Jesse!

Harper: It's over!

Petra Oh, no! Lukas... is he...

Ivor: When you removed out the Redstone Heart... it must have severed their connection.

  • This is my fault.
  • Don't give up Lukas!
  • Please... don't be dead!
  • ...

Jesse: This is all my fault... I could've saved you. I should have saved you -- while I still had the chance...

Lukas: Oh, hey, Jesse. What're you apologizing for this time?

Jesse: Lukas you better not be giving up on me right now, because you are way too tough for some computer to take you down. Please.

Lukas: Wow. Never knew you cared so much.

Jesse: Please don't be dead, please don't be dead!

Lukas: I'm not dead... unless you count dead tired.

Lukas: Oh, hey guys... what's up?

Jesse: He's okay!

Jesse hugs Lukas.

Lukas: Ow!

Lukas: Just really sore. I can't believe I tried to... kill you. I'm so sorry. All I could hear was PAMA's voice, telling me what to do. I-I tried to fight back, but I -- I couldn't.

  • What matters is you're okay!
  • Glad to have you back.
  • Nothing to be sorry about.
  • ...

Jesse: I'm just happy you're okay!

Lukas: I know that must've been tough, Jesse. But I know you'll never let me down.

Jesse: I'm just glad you're on our side again. We need you!

Lukas: Back at'cha, Jesse.

Jesse: Hey, apologies not necessary, okay? That was PAMA. Not you. Sorry about knocking you around.

Lukas: I don't know... I kinda remember it the other way around, actually.

Jesse: Bygones, right?

Lukas: You did what you had to do. I'm thankful for that.

Jesse shows everyone the Redstone Heart.

Harper: It's something else, isn't it?

  • (Unchipped Lukas)
  • (Unchipped Petra)

Lukas: What is that?

Petra: What is that?

Jesse: This... This is the Redstone Heart.

Ivor: Beautiful.

Lukas: And dangerous, too, right? I mean, if it was inside of PAMA... Then it's gotta be bad.

  • Actually, I think it's safe.
  • Yea, probably dangerous.
  • I really don't know.
  • ...

Jesse: I think it's probably pretty safe. After all, it's just a power source.

Harper: Jesse's right on the money.

Jesse: It's obviously dangerous...

Harper: Actually, the Heart is just a power source. Nothing inherently evil about it.

Jesse: I'd imagine Harper is better suited to answer that question...

Harper: Actually, the Heart is just a power source. Nothing inherently evil about it.

Harper: Actually, the Heart is just a power source. Nothing inherently evil about it.

Harper: Now that the Redstone Heart isn't powering PAMA, it can't hurt anyone.

Jesse: I wonder what we should do with it...

Harper: It can help you find your way home.

Petra: No way!

Lukas: That thing can help us home?

Petra: Let's go, then!

Lukas: The faster, the better.

  • Why didn't you say so?
  • Care to elaborate?
  • I still think it's dangerous.
  • I'm not sure that thing is safe.
  • ...

Jesse: Why didn't you say so before?

Harper: Heh... If we actually made it through this alive, I thought you'd like a nice surprise.

Jesse: How is this gonna do that?

Harper: When we head to the Portal Hallway, I'll show you exactly how.

(If Jesse said "Yea, probably dangerous.")

Jesse: I dunno guys... I still feel like this thing might be dangerous, no matter what Harper says.

Harper: Jesse, trust me. The Redstone Heart isn't dangerous, it isn't safe... It is just *is* - A neutral object. A neutral object... that can get you home.

(If Jesse said anything else.)

Jesse: How can I be sure we can trust this thing? It could be dangerous.

Harper: Jesse, trust me. The Redstone Heart isn't dangerous, it isn't safe... It is just *is* - A neutral object. A neutral object... that can get you home.

Harper: Heh... If we actually made it through this alive, I thought you'd like a nice surprise.

Jesse: I'm ready to leave this core behind.

Harper: The whole town will be waking up. We should be there to say hello!

Lukas: Plus, this place gives me the creeps.

The group make their way back to town. Ivor turns around and does a cool pose.

Town[]

The group exit the core and make it back to town.

Jesse: We did it.

  • (Unchipped Lukas)
  • (Unchipped Petra)

Petra: Gotta say, it feels really good being -- ME again.

Lukas: Ahhh... to be in total control of my own brain again! I choose where to go, I choose what to say --

Harper: Just remember, you were only chipped for a little while. The rest of the townspeople, though--

The townspeople celebrate being free from PAMA's control.

Ivor: Yeah, it must be a strange feeling -- to suddenly be awake and aware after such a long time under PAMA's thrall.

Jesse's group approach the townspeople.

Harry (Human): It's you! You're the one who saved us! Who are you? You fought so bravely.

Townsperson02: All of you!

Townsperson03: You guys are awesome!

Townsperson02: I don't know if we can ever thank you enough!

  • We're the Order of the Stone!
  • We're nobody special.
  • We're victims of PAMA too.
  • ...

Jesse: Well, I'm Jesse, and we're the Order of the Stone. Boom! We walk the worlds, seeking adventure and doing good deeds-

Harry (Human): Wow! Well, thank you. We owe you everything.

Harper: You're right! Jesse and the Order really are heroes. We couldn't have done any of this without them.

Jesse: We're nobody, really. We did what anyone would've done. We just got lucky and were able to stop PAMA.

Townsperson02: Your modesty isn't fooling any of us - You saved us! You're amazing!

Harper: Yes, these strangers have been true heroes. We couldn't have done any of this without them.

Jesse: We're not from here, but we're victims of PAMA just like you. But now that PAMA's gone, we're free! We all are!

Harry (Human): Woo! I love being free!

Townsperson03: It's like the best.

Harper: Yes, these strangers have been true heroes. We couldn't have done any of this without them.

Jesse says nothing and waves.

Harper: Jesse -- you're being too modest. They are heroes. They saved you. They saved all of us.

Harry (Human): Harper? Is that... you?

Harper: Um... Yes. Hi Harry.

Jesse: (whispers to Ivor) Oh, wow. He's the real Harry. Like from the lab.

Harry (Human): You didn't do this to us. Did you?

Townsperson02: You did...

Harper: Well, I mean - hey - it's complicated. You have to understand --

Townsperson02: Our homes, destroyed. Everything we built... gone.

Townsperson03: All because of HER!

  • Harper helped saved you.
  • Yeah, she screwed up.
  • PAMA is to blame!
  • ...

Jesse: You don't understand - Harper helped defeat PAMA too. We couldn't have done it without her.

Jesse: You're not wrong -- Harper made a mistake building PAMA. She screwed up, and I don't blame you for being upset with her.

Jesse: Harper built PAMA with good intentions. What happened here is PAMA's fault.

Harper: No... I guess you're all justified to hate me.

Harry (Human): So, what, we're just supposed to forgive her now?

Townsperson02 No, I don't think so.

Townsperson03 Harper stripped this place bare - how are we supposed to rebuild? Are we supposed to deal with this mess all by ourselves?

Townsperson02: Do we just rebuild, and forget about what happened?

  • Harper won't bother you anymore.
  • Harper will help you.
  • That's your problem.
  • ...

Jesse: Whatever you do... Harper won't be around to cause any more trouble.

Petra: Wait. She's coming with us? What are we going to do with her?

Jesse: Well first things first she's going to help us get home. Then I guess she'll have to find a new home.

Townsperson03: Sounds fine by me.

Townsperson02: Yeah.

Jesse: Whatever you decide to do... Harper will make things right and help you clean it all up.

Harper: I... I will?

Townsperson: Yeah. She will?

Jesse: Yeah. Right Harper? (nudges)

Harper: Yes. Yes I will. After I help these travelers find their way home, I come back, help you all find new resources, and we'll make this world great again.

Townsperson03: Worth a shot I guess...

Jesse: Hey, this drama is so not my problem.

Townsperson03: Yeah. Guess we'll figure it out ourselves.

Jesse says nothing and crosses their arms.

Townsperson02: Uh, fine?

Townsperson03: Yeah. Guess we'll figure it out ourselves.

Jesse: Well, I think's that's our cue to set out for home. Again.

The group walk to the portal.

  • (Supported Harper)
  • (Didn't Support Harper)

Harper: Thank you for being so understanding, Jesse. I just hope these people can do the same when I come back again.

The crowd cheer and wave at Harper.

Jesse: You helped free them. I'm sure they'll come around.

Harper: I hope so.

Jesse: Good luck, everyone.

Harry (Human): yeah... We'll need it.

Jesse: Just one more thing left to do-

Harry (Human): GOODBYE!

Townsperson02: THANK YOU, JESSE!

Townsperson03: THANK YOU!

Jesse lights the exit portal.

Harry (Human): SEE YOU SOON, HARPER!

Harper: See you soon!

Harper waves goodbye to the townspeople and leaves through the exit portal. Followed by Lukas and Ivor.

Harper: I may not have been from here originally, but you stay someplace long enough and it'll start to feel like home.

The crowd boo Harper in the background.

Harper: Feel bad that they'll always just remember me as some mad scientist that created a monster.

Jesse: Just one more thing left to do-

Jesse lights the exit portal.

Townsperson02: DON't COME BACK, HARPER!

Townsperson03: WE DON'T WANT YOU HERE!

Harper is sad and walks through the portal after getting kicked out. Lukas and Ivor walks through next.

The dialogue below is cut content.

Lukas: (writing in journal) "New portal at coordinates..." mm-hm.
Ivor: Bye Harry!

Petra: You know, Jesse, for all the grief we gave each other getting to this world, I'm really glad we came.

Jesse: Yeah, Petra, me too.

Jesse and Petra leave. The townspeople start rebuilding.

Portal Network[]

Jesse's gang hop right back in the Portal Network.

Jesse: Right back where we started.

Lukas: Is it weird that I'm happy to see this place again?

  • Yes, it is.
  • At least we're going home.
  • It's better than PAMA.
  • ...

Jesse: Yeah it's pretty weird. This place makes my skin feel all prickly.

Lukas: Well, I'm just excited that we're going home. That's what I'm trying to focus on.

Jesse: This hallway is still pretty creepy, but I'm just glad we're going home.

Lukas: I know, right? I've been loving adventuring and learning things... but it would be nice to do it in our own world for a while. (chuckles)

Jesse: Hey, this hallway might be creepy but at least there aren't any killer computers trying to "chip" us.

Lukas: Yeah...

Jesse: Ooh. Sorry.

Lukas: No it's... It's fine. I'm just glad we're going home.

Jesse says nothing.

Harper: Now when we built this place, we also made something that sorta acts like a compass-slash-map-slash-navigator... We called it "The Atlas." It helps chart routes between the worlds.

Petra: And... you have this Atlas, right?

Harper: Uhhh... No. No, I don't. But! But I know who does!

Petra: Ughhhh.

Lukas: Huh. Guess I should've seen that coming.

  • You lied to us.
  • Still keeping secrets?
  • You can't get us home?!
  • ...

Jesse: So you lied to us. You said you could get us home.

Harper: Now now now hang on, no I didn't. Technically. I told you I could help you find the way home. And I still will. We just need to find the Atlas first.

Jesse: You're not keeping secrets from us again, are you Harper?

Harper: No no no, I promise. I just didn't think to mention it before.

Jesse: So wait - you can't get us home?!

Harper: Okay, okay, no. I might not be able to get you home, but I do know where to get the Atlas.

Harper: I know, I know... But I promise. Just this one more thing, and then you'll be home.

Harper: Don't you worry! We'll just go right in, ask for the Atlas, and then you'll be home. No muss, no fuss... Easy.

Petra: Funny. Whenever someone says that my instincts start screaming "danger."

Harper: In order to find the Atlas... we need to track down the rest of the "Old Builders." Still don't like that name.

Jesse: How do we find them? Which portal do we go through?

Harper: Oh, you don't have to go through another portal. What you're looking for has been right here the whole time.

The dialogue below is cut content.

Lukas: Wait. But you just said we don't have to go through another portal.
Harper: Things aren't always what they seem, blondie. All it needs is the redstone heart.

Harper punches a hole in the wall for the key.

Harper: And there you go. All it's waiting for is the key.

Jesse and Lukas are confused.

Harper: (points to Redstone Heart) That's the Heart.

Jesse places the Redstone Heart into the keyhole. Behind the portal reveals a huge set of stairs.

Jesse: Whoa...

Harper: The answers you're seeking... the Old Builder's Atlas... your way home... They're all right up those stairs.

The group stare at the long set of stairs.

Ivor: ...Adventure?
